Math Lessons for a Living Education
I feel like I have a perpetual struggle with math in our homeschool  . I was thinking today that everything we do that's HOD is great and for the most part flows well and can be done happily and in a timely fashion. Math....not so much. :x We are using CLE. I tried Singapore starting in 3A I t...

Re: Talk to me about foreign language in the lower levels
I like the duolingo idea. I already have that app on my kindle. Thank you for the link. I figured there was something, somewhere about this. Just couldn't find it.

Talk to me about foreign language in the lower levels
We did Song School Latin 1 and now part way through Song School Latin 2 with my oldest who is 9 1/2. We love it, it's a lot of fun and I know that kids learn foreign languages so good at a young age. But the reason for my questioning my decision for adding a foreign language is because it's so so ha...

Re: Pre-designed vs. making own notebooking pages
For those families who have older guides, it is important to note that your guide will function just fine as is without the need to purchase the new notebooking pages. So, you can still use your guides as written. :D Blessings, Carrie Thank you Carrie! I'm looking for some clarification as I'm not ...

Re: Pre-designed vs. making own notebooking pages
Also, will there be changes (notebooking pages or anything else) made to Preparing in the next few months? Would like to wait for updates prior to ordering.

Re: Pre-designed vs. making own notebooking pages
Carrie, Wow! Thank you for your exciting response. In re-reading my original post I wonder if I came across as a bit negative and I apologize, I certainly didn't intend to. We are thoroughly enjoying our school year using Heart of Dakota and plan to continue! :D lol, even though we're just fi...

Pre-designed vs. making own notebooking pages
Can someone help me find the thread about the student making their own notebooking and experiment pages vs. finding some pre-designed ones on FB groups? I'm getting weary of messy work and pictures so big that there's no room left to label. I feel it's one of the things I should be able to lea...

Re: Placing Children New to HOD
And, of course, my third born seems completely different as well. He seems a bit like your 8 year old in that he doesn't seem to catch on as much to things through auditory input. I was just at a homeschooling convention not too long ago, and a speaker said I should be playing Bach into the best he...

Re: Placing Children New to HOD
I reread my post and hope I didn't sound as though I were bragging. Actually, I hoped to give hope to anyone else who has a child who has attention difficulties. :) I don't think you came across as bragging at all. I was actually encouraged, as you said, because your 8 year old sounds a lot like my...

Re: comprehension issues.....
I wish I had some answers for you. I'm actually dealing with a similar issue with my oldest in regards to comprehension. I'm also curious as to what people have to say.
It sounds like you're doing a great job despite some challenges. Keep it up!

Re: Pics of Getting Ready for Bigger Hearts
Thank you Julie for these pictures. I'll be doing Bigger this Fall with my oldest. I'm such a visual person and the pictures help so much! I also have a question. How old was your son when you did Bigger with DITHOR? I can't decide between that and about 1/2 way through the emerging readers for my d...

Re: Struggling checking their work...suggestions?
I completely understand where you're coming from. ;) Once my fifth little student joined the group, there was officially a lot to remember and juggle each day. I simply can't keep it all straight without a little help. I've read about how other moms use their guidebook as a plan book and check thin...

Re: Singapore vs. Horizons and confusing guide lineup
Thank you for all the help everyone! I do think my older girls are placed in the correct guides for their abilities. I really like the idea of doing a 4 day week regardless of the guide being a 5 day week. We have a home school group that meets every other Wednesday so backing things up to 4 days is...
