Re: WG literature questions
This made me chuckle, because there were a few titles in the girl's section my boy wanted to do, so we just swapped things around.

Re: French
I don't speak for HOD, but French is what my son opted to learn too. It's also the most common second language where we live {currently not the USA.} My son has used DuoLingo as well as Rosetta Stone. If you keep an eye on the RS Homeschool FB page you can score an amazing deal during their sales. W...

Re: Cost
Oh, I can't help but chuckle.. You might want to show him other curriculum companies & how it's a very comparable price, even cheaper than other companies. You might also want to start prepping him for the higher grades ahead where the cost will be greater.

Re: High School Plan?
FWIW, my boy placed in Res To Ref & while his age meant that Carrie suggested using the Extensions {just extra books to read to beef it up a bit} I opted not to use them that year because I wanted my boy to adjust to the way that HOD works. It was a GREAT year for us & he loved it. He's now in Rev t...

Re: How to encourage a boy to slow down, think, and be caref
Less is more. It sounds backwards, but I found for my kids that with dictation less is really more. The idea is to get the best out of them, & it's better to have 3 words spelled correctly & written beautifully than a huge long passage done up poorly. I can't remember the exact CM quote about that, ...

Re: I need some ideas for boys
Sometimes boredom is the best medicine. Once, a year or so ago we made a long list on the family white board of things our "sit & play video game" child likes to do that do NOT require electronics. It was a great visual for all of us, because while some it was "solo" stuff some of it required others...

Aww, well done!
I know that feeling well with 2 struggling readers {they had undiagnosed visual processing disorder} & the joy that comes with that "moment" when it all falls into place. Hooray for BOTH of you!

World Geography World Religions
We started the book World Religions.. & while my son was working on his pi-graph the youngest piped up with curiosity to ask when the book was published. When we noticed the 2011 date on it a discussion began on wondering if the statistics were still current, especially in light of current events in...

Re: Weekly Check-in: September 11-15
We're back to work around here. We worked at half pace last week because I made a boo-boo when ordering & forgot to get the BJU Lit with my son's WG. Whoops!! We were waiting on that & his science to arrive. Rather then be off kilter in the guide all year we worked at half pace: Week In Review Week ...

Re: Homeschool Names
Yes, my kids got tired of explaining that we home educate after being asked what school they go to. So, we named it. We opted to call ourselves Solid Rock Christian College which is a play on words. 1. Solid Rock is in reference to God, but there's also a pretty big "rock" here that is well known in...
