need advice for my situation-- how to finish out a guide
Hi friends, I am very interested in hearing your advice concerning my situation. :) I have a 9 yo 3rd grader in Bigger and a just turned 6 yo in Little Hands + Little Hearts FMS & handwriting + The Reading Lesson. We've had quite the busy school year with weaning, post partum anxiety issues, and the...

Just venting
Hi friends, I could use prayer today. My 9 yo son has aspergers. We have been doing speech therapy at the public school for 2 years. We have considered going private but my son's articulation regressed with a new ST, so we need to stay with our ST at the school. We have to do indepth testing this ti...

Re: Aspergers, IEP's, and HOD-- requesting advice please =)
Thank you for sharing, Julie! Your son's story brought tears to my eyes. I can identify with a lot of what you said. When our son was younger we had to find ways to motivate him to sit up, to stand, to walk. He met all his milestones within the "normal" time frame but there are just some things that...

Re: Aspergers, IEP's, and HOD-- requesting advice please =)
Julie, thank you for commenting! I truly love and appreciate HOD and the blessing that it is to our family, particularly to my oldest son. HOD took him from not writing so much as his name, to having beautiful cursive handwriting now in 3rd grade. I have researched a lot of other curriculum options ...

Re: Aspergers, IEP's, and HOD-- requesting advice please =)
Thank you Alicia! We were all set to say "no" to this evaluation. He's never had to have one before even though he's been receiving speech services for two years, but his IEP is almost up and apparently it's based on age? I'm not real clear on that. We met with the psychologist again today who is di...

Re: Aspergers, IEP's, and HOD-- requesting advice please =)
Thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to reply to my post! It is great for me to hear your experience. I agree with you 100%, I believe that the reason my son is as well off as he is academically and developmentally is due in large part to HOD's emphasis on skills. I believe my son may have word ret...

Aspergers, IEP's, and HOD-- requesting advice please =)
There is so much information I could type up regarding my 9 yo in Bigger, so I will try and keep it as concise as possible for the sake of time. =) Our 9 yo has aspergers (recently screened for it-- not officially diagnosed yet-- long story). He has been receiving speech therapy through the public s...

Re: Help! Need advice before I jump ship! =)
Thanks! =) I actually have been leaving a lot undone and getting to it the following day-- but because of doing that, I'm actually only 7 weeks into Bigger. :-/ And I feel like I'm failing my kids by not being half way through the guide. I don't want my sons to be considered "behind." Not sure how t...

Help! Need advice before I jump ship! =)
Hi everyone, This is our 4th year homeschooling with HOD. I currently have a 3rd grader in Bigger and a Kindergartner in Little Hands + Little Hearts math and FMS. We enjoy the curriculum very much. However I am finding myself extremely stressed out much of the time. Something has got to give. In ad...

Re: Placement advice for LHFHG
Thanks Stephanie! At this point I am thinking that may be the best option for us. I'm struggling with feeling like he won't be challenged enough, but the truth is he can and does join in with big brother. I think our days would be a little more joy-filled with this option. I do struggle with feeling...

Placement advice for LHFHG
Hi everyone. =) I'm in need of some placement advice. My ds turned 5 in May and we started LHFHG two weeks ago. He is not as ready for phonics instruction as I had thought he was. I feel like he needs more time to focus on letters and letter sounds. This time last year I had intended to do LHTH with...
