Re: Hello, considering CTC

Hi, I did call and leave a message but basically very little Easy Grammar, 5th grade level, not much at all. Ummm..can't remember the other question..ha! She has not done any "formal" literature study. Reads books for pleasure, lots. I have another question if someone could help. I just looked at th...

DITHOR

Okay..so we are doing CTC and "MAYBE" Preparing, trying to decide still between it and Trail Guide to learning. Is Dithor difficult to use for someone who does not understand literature study at all?? Also..if my 13 year old has not done "formal" literature study what student level books should we g...

Re: Hello, considering CTC

Heavy Sigh!! Thank you....yes, I think this is the right path. I am feeling more peace about things..... I appreciate EVERYONE and your input! OOPS....one more thing, grammar and writing etc.. are not my area so I have a grammar/writing program that is very self directed. Should I also get DITHOR? W...

Re: Hello, considering CTC

Okay...so ready for this? Reading falls under CTC mainly because we have not done "formal" literature study. She loves to read "books she likes" but we haven't done literary study, she reads a lot though.. Writing/Grammar falls under Preparing, Math...I am not sure, she has struggled greatly with Ma...

Re: Hello, considering CTC

okay..so here is my frustration with the placement charts. I can't easily look and fit her in one guide because she doesn't place nice and neat within the placement charts. She might fit in one area and not another so what do I do then? I look at the books that I think she will enjoy reading, that I...

Re: Hello, considering CTC

Again...please do not hesitate to post, I have calmed down... I don't think I was frustrated by your posts as much as just frustrated in general with myself and wanting to get her a good 4 year education, even though I may not do all "high school" stuff. Right now we are in Kansas and we have freedo...

Re: Hello, considering CTC

Oh my, I haven't even finished reading everyones posts...thank you so much for your encouragement. I did not mean to offend anyone. It is a LONG story but I would say I have been more of an "unschooler" and really regretting it now. So...sometimes it is hard for me to come to boards and ask question...

Re: Hello, considering CTC

UGH....getting confused. I am not sure why but I always end up feeling discouraged when I come here and try to find a fit. We are not a "she is in 8th or 9th grade" so she places in 8th or 9th grade for everything, family. I am not sure why I am frustrated but when I post on here I almost "feel" lik...

Re: Hello, considering CTC

Okay..so the only place I see an issue would be in the Grammar placement. But..we are using something other than what is recommended. Her reading skills are good, she LOVES to read and reads well etc... It would mainly be in the area of grammar and writing that we might not be up to par. So...can we...

Hello, considering CTC

Hi, I have an older student, she would be on the high end age, 13, for Creation to Christ. I am really wanting to get in a 4 year chronological history with her and because we have not done a lot of formal grammar I think this would be a good fit. Now...in saying that, I am curious as to what kind o...
