Sarah Whitcher's Story - BEYOND

Do you sit down beforehand and divide the book into 20 portions for the 4 units? If you do, would you mind sharing?

Re: How yummy can you get?!?

I have been looking for a unit on Egypt to prepare us for the visit to the museum for the King Tut exhibition. We just started BEYOND with my 6 year old and I've been wanting a reason to purchase PREPARING...now I have it. The order has been placed! (oh! and I ordered BIGGER also...just in case ther...

Re: Week In Review 9-19-08

We have had a great week Beyond Unit 6. It has been a little challenging to complete everything in 4 days but it is so worth it to have a 3 day weekend!

Re: Nature Study

Yes! this last link given by happyhomeschooling is awesome. This blog http://www.heartsandtrees.blogspot.com/ belongs to her daughter and she also has handicrafts and free nature study activities. Right now it has been hard for us to walk on our property because there is a lot of noise from trucks a...

Parents Magazine October 2008

There is a very nice article/interview with 3 homeschool moms in the October issue of Parents magazine. It is a good conversation starter... or maybe to end a conversation!

I remember when I would check the board and there were NO NEW MESSAGES for a week... The activity we now enjoy is miraculous and a blessing.
HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! :D

Re: DOES ANYONE EVER INCORPORATE THE OTHER BOOKS IN WITH LHTH?

Hi Briana! You know your child best. So whatever advice you get from the board is just that. Ideas, suggestions, advice. So here is my advice... Start LHFHG as is. 60-90 minutes of school for Kindergarten is perfect. And Carrie has set up LHFHG just right! Spend the rest of the time outside, on a fi...

Re: Anyone in Texas??

Hi there!
I am also in Texas - Keene, Texas (south of Burleson) - not born here, just moved here 20 something years ago!
Any of you starting Beyond this year? We should get together sometime :)

Music Study - Beyond - a little long...

Just a few suggestions of what you can do for Music Study for CM fans and anyone else interested. There are no written records of the music utilized in the 1500 in USA - but we know that the Amerindians were already here and they had a huge repertoire of music but an oral tradition to pass along the...

Re: Copy Work Please Help

From reading previous posts about copywork on this HOD board, I learned about using a timer. So from the first day of Beyond I set the timer for 10 minutes and it has worked. It is not 100% magic but there is a goal AND snack time is always after copywork. I also print the poem with Startwrite so th...

Re: How to review with RME

Krissy, for review of RME we would just re-read one portion of the previous lesson or not do it at all and it was OK. We are now on lesson 61 and galloping along at 1 lesson per day. We started with one or two per week. For my 5 year old boy taking a break was very good. And I did not have to figure...

My son loves to draw so we needed much more space than the suggestion in the...

Re: Charlotte Mason fan

Jennifer, I am also a CM fan! I have found that it is very easy to add Hymn study by singing the same hymn everyday for a month during family worship. For composer study I choose a classical composer of which I already have a CD of and play it in the morning while we do our chores. I usually just me...
