Re: Please share your experiences with us.
I did this curriculum for my 6th grade year, which was a crazy one with moving and other things going on throughout the year. But I got caught up on about a month of school in a week because of how much extra time they allow you to get everything done. So far I would say this a very good curriculum,...

Nature Study
I was wondering about nature studies, which I keep hearing is an important part of a CM education. I was wondering if there is nature study planned in any of the guides? If not, is there a reason? And, how does your family go about nature study and journaling? I'm looking for good nature study journ...

Re: Please share your experiences with us.
It's our third year homeschooling, but our first year of enjoying it! It's because we have found HOD. My oldest has been doing CTC this year, and for the first time she finally enjoys school! She loves that she can be independent, and she loves to challenge herself by getting ahead in her independen...

Re: Preparing is a treat!
I think all of the programs look great. But Preparing always looks like the funnest year to me! I am so upset that I didn't know about HOD when we first started homeschooling. My daughter was in 4th grade, it would be been perfect. I know she would have loved it. Sigh.... Oh well, she is enjoying CT...

Re: 2015/2016 Heart of Dakota Blogroll!
I don't have a blog, but I do have a FB page I made when we first started homeschooling. I haven't been good about updating it at all but I decided, it being our first year with HOD, now is the time to start documenting our homeschool journey! And since all my kids are now doing HOD, that's what it ...

Re: White Boards for Lefties?
Yes, the small white boards. The way she has to (or thinks she has to) hold her hand to not smudge it looks super uncomfortable. But if other lefties don't struggle with it, maybe I should pay more attention to how her hand is positioned in general.

Re: White Boards for Lefties?
I can't believe I've never even thought of the fact that lefties might have problems with ink smudging and such. I guess I didn't notice that as a righty I get to have my hand over the clean paper, and that is not the case for left-handers. Is that why we right left to right? I'd imagine back in the...

White Boards for Lefties?
I recently read a post that said Carrie uses small white boards for her sons to do things, like Rod & Staff English, instead of having to write it out on paper. We usually do all the Rod & Staff orally, except worksheets, tests, and bigger assignments that can't be done orally. I thought the white b...

Re: Reformation Day?
Last year it was a "Bible Smuggling" contest. There were guards at the door and you had to see if you could smuggle a Bible into the building. It was a potluck soup supper, some teaching and discussion (I think last year about persecution and areas where you're not supposed to have God's word), and...

Reformation Day?
I was just wondering, do any HOD families celebrate Reformation Day (Oct 31)? Do any of the guides have any Reformation activities? I see these bloggers who have their kids write their "thesis" and nail it to the door, like Martin Luther, and it looks like so much fun. We decided to quit celebrating...

Hearing this breaks my heart! What she went through early in life :'( I am so sorry. But God is a good God, and I know He has great plans. You are all now in my prayers!
