That's a great idea!
We are still trying to get all work done in one day but if we continue getting bogged down, I may try your schedule!
Thanks!

Re: first day with RtR
One thing I have noticed about each HOD guide we do - after we work hard at the beginning to establish good routines and to work hard at doing the best possible for each box/skill set of the plans, the guide gets more manageable, even more enjoyable, and time begins to fall off the day more and mor...

Re: Alternatives to "Screen Time"
I want my kids to have the self-control to choose and to learn that self-control. Right now the limits are all mom-control. How do I make that transition? It is a difficult transition for some kiddos. This is one reason that I like the "Screen Time" app. I don't limit anything other than games duri...

Re: Your Help Leads Me to Another Question
My b/g twins are very competitive....at least my boy. He can actually work faster than his sister but is constantly degrading himself (can we say perfectionist?). We are going through remediation for dyslexia right now so they are working together but I can see a separation coming in the future. I a...

Re: first day with RtR
Thanks so much! Those ideas are very helpful! Today I'm trying to give them more uninterrupted time and see if that helps. I was trying to break up independent things and w/mom things but the constant shuffling was very distracting to them. We'll see if it helps. If they are still frustrated, I'll d...

Re: Alternatives to "Screen Time"
We have cable, tablets, and phones....no xbox or things like that. We use our tv as a family to watch sports and an occasional movie. For the tablets I found a GREAT app called "Screen Time". Check it out! It has a school time blocker, bed time blocker, a new app blocker, etc. We don't allow game pl...

Re: first day with RtR
We've only done 3 days (which took us 4) and my kiddos are overwhelmed. I'm trying to decide how to handle it. I know this is a silly question, but when you say you are "going 1/2 speed" what exactly do you mean? Are you doing the left page one day and the right page the next or do you divide things...

Re: What to do? One child in 5 day, two children in 4 day
Moving from one day to the next is the normal routine around here as well. The Day 1, 2, etc., isn't really an issue for me but my husband wants them to stay close to the same schedule. He just knows that if one is finished before the others we'll have a major upheaval and we have a lot on our plate...

Re: What to do? One child in 5 day, two children in 4 day
Thank you all for the responses! After talking to my dd (who is one of the ones doing the 4 day) she made it fairly clear for me....not that it will be perfect every week. Monday is our afternoon for music classes, so we will start Day 1 on Tuesday and plan to finish Day 4 on Friday, HOWEVER, they w...

What to do? One child in 5 day, two children in 4 day
I'm just hoping for some advice with this situation.
We will be starting Bigger (5 day) and Res to Ref (4 day). How do you handle this with your kiddos?

Re: Question about extensions
Your son sounds very much like my son who will be 4th grade, 10yo in September. He can read, just not fluently, due to some dyslexia type issues and a dysfunction of the symbols of language. I'll be reading the Bigger extensions to him because he will love them and he's on the older end of things. H...

Re: How to scale back....or going at a slower pace
Thank you for the responses! I am so blessed by all of you on this board! I need a clarification, however. I've read elsewhere and some of you mentioned this about going half-pace. What exactly does that look like? Do you do right page one day, left page the next? Or is there a better way to divide ...

Re: My kids HATE Robert Frost, and he's my FAVORITE!
I think poetry is mostly an acquired taste. Early ages need exposure and memorization....later years will bring enjoyment and understanding. My mother loved poetry and even wrote some pretty amazing poems but she didn't share them with any of us (her children). I found many of them while going throu...

Re: Looking for FUN Back to School ideas
Here are some things that we have done in the past: Coco Key - Nationwide waterpark has a homeschool day sometime in August Worlds of Fun (similiar to Six Flags) - homeschool day sometime in August Family picnic/swimming at the pool or lake Family food fight - we invite our extended family and have ...
