Writing in MTMM Story Starters by Karen Andreola
I was wondering if anyone has used Story Starters by Karen Andreola. I purchased the book a couple of years ago, but we still haven't used it. My daughters are not fans of writing, and I was considering using it next year with MTMM instead of WWTB2. Any thoughts on that? My girls will be 12 and 13 (...

Re: Foerster Aglebra 1 1999 Edition
I emailed David Chandler from Math Without Borders who makes the Home Companion DVDs for Foerster Algebra, and he said the 1999 version is identical to the Prentice Hall Classics version except the cover is different. That is great to know!

Foerster Aglebra 1 1999 Edition
I have the Foerster Algebra 1 Expressions, Equations, and Applications 1999 Classic Edition by Addison Wesley ISBN 0-201-32458-X. Does anyone know if this is the same as the Prentice Hall Classics Edition? Thanks.

Re: Who has used No-Nonsense Algebra?
Since I haven't gotten many responses yet, I decided to Google "No-Nonsense Algebra Reviews". I was pretty impressed with how many reviews came up. The ones I read were all very encouraging which brings me much relief! Now to wait for our tax return to get here so I can go order EVERYTHING for the f...

Who has used No-Nonsense Algebra?
I am pretty positive it will be the choice for my daughter's 7th grade math in the fall. She is finishing up Singapore 6B now. The plan would then be to go into Foerster's Algebra in 8th grade after completing No-Nonsense Algebra for 7th. I would love to hear from anyone who has used or is using No-...

Re: Math sequence?
I know I'm late coming into this conversation, but I'm in your same situation so thought I would chime in. My daughter is currently in 6th grade in RTR and working on finishing up Singapore 6B. She's doing well with it, but I don't feel comfortable with her going straight into Foerster's Algebra for...

Re: Singapore Math DM 1A/1B VS. 7A/7B?
Thank you, Stephanie! I had actually started reading this thread earlier today, got distracted, closed all my windows, and totally forgot about it! I think it confirms my instinct to steer away from Singapore when my daughter finishes 6B in a few months. Which is what I thought I had decided until I...

Singapore Math DM 1A/1B VS. 7A/7B?
Can anyone give insight into the differences between Singapore Discovering Mathematics 1A/1B and 7A/7B? I know 1A/1B has been discontinued, but I have found that christianbook.com is selling it. I don't like what I've seen and heard regarding Singapore 7A/7B, and had thought I wouldn't even consider...

Re: Help me salvage this school year! (Very long)
First off, God bless you! You definitely have a lot on your plate! And I honestly haven't read over all the other responses, but one thing that came to mind regarding the challenge of having the guide handy is to take it somewhere and have the binding removed and it three hole punched. I think it on...

Re: Singapore Math DM 7A/7B Concerns
Julie, we homeschool in Texas, so we are not required to standardized test. :D Although, at some point within the next year I hope to just for my own benefit to see how she is doing in regards to testing. I have so many scenarios/possibilities in my mind right now of what to do for math next year. N...

Re: Singapore Math DM 7A/7B Concerns
Do you think going from Singapore 6B in 6th grade to Rick Fisher Pre-Algebra in 7th grade and then Foerster Algebra 1 in 8th grade would work? Or, would it be better to do both Singapore 7a and Rick Fisher Pre-Algebra for 7th grade before Foerster Algebra 1 in 8th? And if doing both for 7th is best,...

Re: Singapore Math DM 7A/7B Concerns
Thank you Julie for your insight. Are the errors in the Rick Fisher pre-algebra text only in the answer key and do you know if the publisher offers a corrected version or download of a corrected answer key? By looking at it on Amazon, it looks appealing to me. I tried to find his personal website bu...

Shout out to Singapore Math Customer Service!
Just have to share my experience with Singapore Math Customer Service. Some might have seen my previous post about my son's 2B workbook having pages missing and double of other pages. I had contacted Singapore Math because I couldn't remember what merchant I ordered it from. They originally said the...

Singapore Math DM 7A/7B Concerns
My daughter has gone through Singapore Math 1a-6a. She is in 6th grade and will finish Singapore 6b around June. I have heard mixed reviews about Singapore after 6b, so I'm not sure about continuing with it for 7th grade in the fall. I've also looked at the samples online and worry if there is enoug...

Pray for the Miller Family of Miller Pads and Paper
I know many families purchase from Miller Pads and Paper. I just found out that Randy Miller passed away suddenly from a heart attack while setting up for a convention in FL. Please pray for the Miller Family.
