Re: Sneak Peek #2: New US2 High School Guide
Yay! I love when a new book is announced, and I think to myself... 'Yep, I already have that because it is a great choice!' This happened with two books in a row now. Looking forward to the coming years!

Re: We're Baaaack!
Yay, welcome back!! ;-) We took a break too, from Res to Ref & Beyond to do some fun holiday reading & projects, Thanksgiving until Jan. 3rd. Our first day back will be the 4th, & the kids & I are all excited. We have a new space to work from too, & I was just finalizing my game plan today. It's ama...

Re: Shakespeare in Res 2 Rev
We tend to forget too... ;-) What we started doing a couple of weeks in, is I will give clarification or a recap every page or so, & then at the end of the day's reading, my son will give me a quick summary of what was read. Then the following reading, he'll quickly remind me about what we read last...

Re: RtoR Encouragement needed :)
I think that each child is different, so some may absorb more while being read to, while others prefer reading to themselves. Trust your instinct & do whatever you feel is the best fit for you & your child. :-) We are in our 11th week of RtR, & sometimes if our day is taking too long, or if the assi...

Re: Reading curriculum choice HOD or BJU
Our family used Bob Jones Reading up through 5th grade, & began using DITHOR in 6th grade when we discovered Heart of Dakota. I can see why you are asking this question! Both are such quality programs, yet are definitely different. Bob Jones focuses on specific worksheet questions tailored to each s...

Re: High School Guides - for Average Students?
Thank you for your replies! I feel much better having read what each of you wrote. :-) Our family has an odd school year - we school year round, 3-4 days/wk, from spring to spring. So technically, my son will be 11 yrs old during most of RtR, & my daughter will soon be 7 while in Beyond. Both kids h...

High School Guides - for Average Students?
Hi there! My kids are still little, so we won't be using the high school guides for quite some time yet, but I had a question. I know that placement in the guides is based upon skill level, progress through prior guides, etc. If you are using the high school guides for your family, would you conside...

Re: We love Beyond! Thanks!!! :-)
My daughter (6 yrs old) loves Beyond too! It is such fun, & I love that she looks forward to the different activities each day. I never would have thought I could enjoy poetry as much as we do while working with the program! I also didn't realize how well my child can handle memorization. Without He...

Re: Summer ideas
My ten year old son loves to build things. We've bought him spoons, wooden sticks, clothes pins, rubberbands, binder clips, & more from the Dollar Store, & he enjoys making catapults and other contraptions that project or fling beads & mini marshmellows. Another fun option is to get him a low-heat (...

Rod & Staff... & diagramming. Where to begin?
Ah yes... diagramming! It has been a couple of years (20+!) since I last diagrammed a sentence, but I can remember enjoying it back in elementary school. (Yes, I was one of those kids! ;-) ) We just bought R&S 5 for my sixth grader (to go w/RtR), & I see that there is some sentence diagramming in it...

Re: Finish up old year... or skip ahead to new?
Thank you so much for your replies!
After much prayer & consideration, I decided that we will begin using our new books next week! I'm not sure whether we will be going full or half-speed... I'm going to just play it by ear!
Super excited!!!!
Thank you again.

Finish up old year... or skip ahead to new?
Hi there! This is going to be our first year with Heart of Dakota. I'm trying to decide whether to jump into our new books a couple of months early, or finish up the books my children are currently working from... what would you do? I just recently bought RtR & Beyond for two of my children. We lear...
