Rod and Staff orally in World History

Hi, My daughter is starting the World History guide, and she's gone through HOD since Beyond. We've been doing Rod and Staff completely orally, and were planning on continuing that this year, with the exception of the specific writing "projects" assigned. But as far as everyday lessons, is that ok t...

Re: Is there a need to add a phonics program to Beyond?

Thank you Carrie and Lora Beth.
I will go ahead and complete her phonics instruction first, and will probably start that during the summer so we can finish up in the Fall and start on the Emerging Readers Set.

Re: Is there a need to add a phonics program to Beyond?

Thank you for all the great advice and input. I do think she needs to finish up some more phonics, maybe not a full curriculum though. In looking at the Unit 1 PDF online, I didn't see any phonics instruction- maybe I missed it? Should I supplement with one? She has a solid phonics base from ps, and is a solid ...

Re: LHHG grade placement

Thank you Melissa, that really helped. As you can tell, I'm still in the "I don't want to miss anything" phase of homeschool research.=) Thank you for sharing about using a 4 day week. We have been debating homeschooling because I do work 2 days a week (and sometimes 3). We had planned to use a 4 da...

LHFHG grade placement

Hi, I'm new to homeschooling and still trying to decide if it is best for our family. If we do homeschool, HOD seems to be the perfect fit for us. Just wondering, my daughter will be starting Kindergarten in the Fall. On the placement chart she falls into LHFHG. 1.LHHG lists 3 levels for science for...
