Dictionary

What dictionary would you recommend using to do the vocabulary words in Bigger? I'll be using it with a 3rd grader.

Re: To combine or not combine

Thank you ladies SO much. You have helped set my mind at ease and given me some practical ways to make running 2 guides work well. You ladies are wonderful and I so appreciate you taking the time to respond!

To combine or not combine

Next year will be my first year with HOD. I will have two girls, a 3rd grader and a K. My original plan was to separate them and put my oldest in Bigger and my youngest in Little Hearts. But now I'm wondering if I should combine them and put them in Beyond. Looking at the older years of HOD I'm afra...

Re: Emerging Readers vs DITHOR

Thank you so much for mentioning the book lost!!! I didn't realize it had books for younger kids!! I'm absolutely getting that when I purchase my other stuff.

How do you decide?!

I'm looking at the read aloud book packs for Beyond and I want us to read them all! How do you narrow down which ones to get? Is it possible to read more than one book from each genre in the scheduled amount of days? I don't want to buy books we won't have time to read but I don't want us to miss al...

Re: Emerging Readers vs DITHOR

Yes, I wasn't going to do the actual DITHOR guide, I was just going to use the book pack to have her read through. I definitely think shes too young to work through the guide but wanted her to start having some scheduled reading time each day starting this fall.

Emerging Readers vs DITHOR

I have an almost 7 year old who is a very strong reader. She has read Viking Adventure independently before and understood it. She has read an Amelia Bedelia book and can pretty much read anything you give her. But I'm struggling with whether I should have her use the emerging readers set or DITHOR ...

Re: Library vs Buying Book Packs

Thank you so much for your replies. Your responses were along the lines of what I was thinking myself. We live literally 3 minutes from a library that is small but we have a great interlibrary system that is free. BUT I constantly forget to order the books on time and then I forget to take them back...

Library vs Buying Book Packs

i was wondering everyone's opinion on buying the book packs for read aloud time amd DITHOR. It would obviously be more cost effective to use the library but I'm wondering if anyone thinks it's worth it. The library is obviously a much bigger hasel. So what's your opinion: is it worth the money to bu...

Placement Help

This year we will be doing Adventures in MFW. But next year I was thinking of switching to HOD. My oldest daughter will be 7 at that time. I started her early (cause you know I was a silly over eager mom). So even though she was 5 at the start of this year we did MFW first grade. She did great and i...
