Re: New to HOD--Question re materials
I am also having a "budget" problem... I want ALL the books!!! It's too much for me to get all at once though. I will be doing Preparing with my two oldest... would this work? : Buy all of the following: Economy package, Economy package science add-on, DITHOR and workbook, math, and English THEN... ...

Re: LHFHG art question
I'm not necessarily artsy/crafty either but I have a pad of paper from Target that says "paint and marker pad." The paper is a little thicker and I think that would probably be great for painting on. I hope that helps!

Preparing w/ 8 & 10 yr old
Hopefully this will be my last post and I can make a decision!!! Thank you, in advance, for your help... I *think* I have decided to combine my (just turned) 8 year old daughter and (almost) ten year old son in Preparing next year. My 8 year old places pretty firmly in Preparing, while I think my so...

DITHOR books for 8 & 9 year olds
Hello! I've got an 8 and (will be) 10 year old that will be starting HOD late summer or this fall. I was planning to get my 8 year old the level 3 books and my 9 year old the level 4/5 books. They both love to read and are not intimidated by long chapter books. I don't want to place them above their...

Re: Switching LA and math curriculums- 3rd & 4/5th grade
Ladies, thank you so much for your help! I'm hoping we like Rod & Staff as much as CLE and I'm pretty sure I know where I'll place the kiddos. The Singapore placement test should help lots and the fact that I could start in a "B" book and go on to the "A" of the next level is something I had never c...

Switching LA and math curriculums- 3rd & 4/5th grade
I was wondering if anyone has had experience switching from Christian Light Education Language Arts to Rod and Staff? My two oldest kiddos will be finishing CLE LA level 2 and 4... can they go straight into R&S level 3 and 5? I understand that Rod and Staff is advanced, but I thought CLE was also. T...

Re: Letting go of testing.....
My husband and I both graduated from public school, but I knew that I wanted our kids' homeschooling journey to look different than what we did. Starting out, I wasn't fond of tests, but we did a few. Then we switched to a curriculum that has two quizzes and a test per workbook, and I graded them wi...

Re: LHFHG Question
Thank you StephanieU, you've given me so much to think about! My son isn't ready for copying sentences yet either. I think that I'm afraid that if we do Little Hearts now, when we get to Beyond, it will be boring for him because it'll be so easy. Maybe I'm wrong though. He is not mature for his age ...

Re: LHFHG Question
Thank you for all your input ladies, it's very much appreciated. I'm thinking I'll go ahead and start my little guy in Beyond and just go slow if need be. I looked at the placement chart and I think he places enough in Beyond that we'll be OK. ~Have a great weekend

Re: LHFHG Question
I was going to start Little Hearts also. I was not aware that not all activities for the different levels offered in the guide were NOT in the guide! So what books go exactly with what is in the Little Hearts guide? I was also going to do first grade and get Our Father's World, Singapore 1A/1B, and ...

Combining in Preparing, then what later?
I will be doing HOD this next year with my three kiddos. My two oldest will be 8 and 9 (almost 10), I'll be combining them in Preparing. I've got a question about much later down the road ;) if I combine them now, my youngest will finish the last guide a year early. Like I said, I know this is a way...

Re: Little Hearts or Beyond
Loved this question, because I am pretty much in the exact same position! My little guy is six, but turning seven very soon after starting HOD Little Hearts for 1st grade. I am not planning on phonics instruction... he reads amazingly! I chose to do Little Hearts with him because I feel a lot of Bey...
