Re: Optional Shakespeare
Honestly, I would skip it. He has already gone through the book, and besides a small amount of copywork and coloring, I don't think he would miss anything. At this age, Shakespeare is really just about exposure. You don't discuss or analyze the plays so he is already ahead of the ballgame since he's...

Re: Finish up old year... or skip ahead to new?
If it were me, I would begin Beyond with the little one now, while finishing up any phonics she may be working on. After getting a feel for Beyond for a couple of weeks, I would begin the older student, but continue with the 3Rs he is already using (unless he is really struggling with the methodolog...

And it will be even more of a joy when he hears 12th graders are using level 8!

Re: Level of Grammr for 6th grader
I have used Shurley English (Grammar) and R&S, and both are rigorous. They are also very different IMO. If it were me, I don't like to fix what isn't broken...okay, well sometimes I do but that never ends well :D . I would stick with Shurley Grammar if your kid does well with it. I would slow it dow...

Re: # of Hours/Day in Last 2 Guides
Thank you for the reply. My oldest is 13, and I ask many questions about the high school guides because I need to know where we are headed before we get there

# of Hours/Day in Last 2 Guides
How long will a school day be once the students are using the final two guides?
So far we have WG: up to 6 1/2 hr x 4 days/wk
WH: up to 7 1/2 hr x 4 days/wk
I am curious how long the final guides will take.
Thanks!

Re: WG Science
As a 9th grade level science course, it is not heavy on math calculations. That is partially why Carrie chose it for 9th grade. Our ds took much from his IPC course with lab in WG. He thoroughly enjoyed the narrative readings by John Hudson Tiner, and he completed every science experiment th...

Re: Picture book list to use with HOD Res. to Ref.?
"All Through the Ages" is a great resource that has books categorized by grade, chronological order, geographical order, etc. There are lots of books in there that are already sorted.

Price Increase?
Was there a price increase recently? I am loading my cart and came across the price for DITHR 6/7/8 student workbook. I don't remember paying over $35 for it last fall.
ETA: Does HOD inform customers of price increases or updated editions before they occur? Thanks!

Re: Adding more women's history
We have done RTR several times now, and I have good news - there are women a plenty throughout the year! :D We are in Unit 26, and our talks have been dominated with Catherine of Aragon, Isabella d'Este, Lucretia Borgia, Vittoria Colonna, Margaret of Navarre, Teresa of Avila, Anne Askew, Queen Anne...
