Re: Writing in MTMM Story Starters by Karen Andreola

I used Story Starters last year with my then-7th grade daughter. I think it's a fantastic way to get them motivated, especially if they are resistant writers. One benefit is the amount of reading they do just to select the story they want to use. Also, I was pleasantly surprised at how long my daugh...

Re: mom read storytime in PHFHG

Julie, Just to follow up on this line... I'm still reading to my 13-year old (who enjoys it) because even though she can certainly read the books herself, I thought the purpose was to see how they process something being read TO them as opposed to how they process when reading on their own. She alre...

Written Narrations???

Here I am over halfway through my first year of homeschooling and it's just dawned on me that I don't think we are doing the written narrations properly. Are students supposed to write out a draft of their narration so it can be proofed -- and then once it's correct they copy it into their Student N...

Re: First week of MTMM

Lynn, thank you so much for the encouraging words. My 15yo dd can't believe we're homeschooling our 12yo dd. We're only three weeks in and things are going well, although my dd still wants to go to private school. I can understand -- it's a quiet day at home while her other sisters are at school. I ...

Re: First week of MTMM

Lynn, I'm going way off-topic here but I appreciated your comments on this thread and then went to your blog, which is wonderful! I'm homeschooling my 7th grader for the first time (she was in ps and then private Christian school) and using Rev-to-Rev, so it was neat to see your comments about all t...

Re: 7th Grader Doesn't Want to Homeschool

I want to thank all of you lovely ladies who responded with such wonderful advice and encouragement. I have felt God leading me to home-school my 7th grader and know it's the right thing to do. Self-doubt and her tears over missing her friends at school really did a number on my confidence. But betw...

7th Grader Doesn't Want to Homeschool

I would appreciate any advice or encouragement to help the transition from private Christian school to homeschooling my daughter this year. She will be in 7th grade and is very upset that we have decided to home-school her. It's a long story (private school closed, public school not an option). I am...
