Re: Combine 4th and 7th grader in Preparing?
I have had a 7th grader use Preparing (with CTC's science and LA), but that was because he tried CTC and couldn't handle the work load (Executive Functioning issues, Dysgraphia, and, in hind sight, probably also Dyscalculia). He graduated after WG, with higher LA and Science. I wouldn't place a 7th ...

Re: How many guides can I teach at one time?
K places in LHFHG, 2nd BLFHG, 3rd BHFHG, 5th PHFHG or CTC, 7th Res to Ref or Rev to Rev, 9th World Geo, 10th World Geo or World History. K - I would recommend daily storytime with you and phonics (when ready - I start around their 6th birthday), only adding in more when/if you have time (printing +...

Re: Visual History Set & Other Guide Samples
It’s on the website- if you are shopping for the packages it shows you where on the guide it is and it tells you how often. Visual History says 4 days and is highlighted on the music box. Music is highlighted in the same spot and says 1 day a week. https://heartofdakota.com/package/beyond-little-he...

Re: What does your day look like?
It depends on the year. Sometimes it depends on the month! And it depends on the kids (which of my kids are in which guides). 5 years ago I had 3 in high school guides, combined for LA and Science, two more in lower HOD guides (Preparing and RTR) and 2 more doing just 3Rs + Storytime, plus a toddler...

Re: Sneak Peek: New Middle School Math Choices
For those of us interested in using your new suggestions, but who didn't use Singapore, do either of these programs offer placement tests? I'm loving all your new suggestions and look forward to hearing feedback on the ones I don't need for a year or two. (For example, with both a boy and girl in CT...

Re: Getting started questions
If your younger two would work well together, I would suggest starting them in LHFHG or Beyond Little Hearts, wherever your 6yo fits for skills (see the placement chart on the website). Combining them would save your voice and combining at the younger child's level (which is the way two students *sh...

Re: Sneak Peek: DITHOR 3/4 Boy and Girl Packs
These look great! I have 2 questions about the ERs/DITHOR: 1) To clarify, is it now: *ER1 *ER2 *DITHOR 3/4 (B&G) *followed by the original DITHOR Sets from Level 4/5, and up? 2) Will you be offering "Upgrade Packages" for those who have the original Level 2 and 3 book packs to convert our packages i...

Re: Sneak Peek: Emerging Reader's Set 2
This new set comes with its own schedule. The Emerging Reader’s Set 1 will also come with its own schedule too. Carrie This makes me so excited! I'd love to share the ERs with those who don't know what to do after phonics, but aren't looking for a full curriculum! (Maybe after trying out how great ...

Re: IEW old vs new edition
They skip a couple of units, and possibly a few lessons in a couple others. It's been a couple of years, so I'm not sure which ones. (2 in CTC now, so we'll be joining you in RTR by next January.)
Blessings,

Re: IEW old vs new edition
No. I bought a guide with both books, then, as the copyright in the front allowed, I copied the Student Book for each child, so I've never had to update. Sadly, IEW doesn't seem to stock many extra copies of the Student books when they update, so people are forced to update both books instead of jus...

Re: IEW old vs new edition
If you don't use what is scheduled in the guide you have, you will have to figure out your own schedule.
You will need BOTH the TM and Student Book to match each other, whether it is the version in the guide or not (do not try to mix and match).

Absolutely. I've noticed that my 13yo isn't getting much work done while the CTC Storytime is happening!
