Re: 9th Grade Science Question
Thank you so much for your response Tammy. Can you tell me where the threads are that talk about beefing up MTMM Science to make it high school? The Biology that our co-op is teaching is Apologia. My oldest took that Biology so we already own the books, but she did it in an online class plus at co-o...

Re: High School Track
Thank you so much for answering my question. I knew that this guide was used for 9th grade, but just wasn't sure if that meant that they skipped Geography, or that final year or what. So the MTM Science can count as high school Science then?

High School Track
My dd will be a 9th grader this fall and just finished RevtoRev last year, so she needs the second 1/2 of U.S. History and will be doing MTM this fall. Do people grab some of the resources from USII to add to this year since she won't be able to make it to USII her senior year, or do you just not do...

9th Grade Science Question
Two questions: Does the Exploration Education Physical Science program count as a high school Science? My daughter just did Rev to Rev last year, including the Physical Science, and is going into 9th grade this fall. We planned on her doing Missions to Marvels and the Science with that looks amazing...

Write with the Best Vol. 1 used twice with same child?
Has anyone used Write with the Best Vol. 1 twice with the same child? I'm thinking of placing my soon to be 10yo ds in Bigger this fall and my 12yo dd in Rev to Rev, but I was considering combining them to both write with WWTB vol. 1. If I did that, my 10yo would come across WWTB again in CTC. I was...

Re: Use Bigger's Hist. books instead of CHOW for Preparing?
Thank you so much for all of your responses. I really appreciated all of those links to the conversations about the Writing programs too. I think it sounds like doing Bigger and letting him do as much independently as he can might be a good option. He does write at least 4-5 sentences a day right no...

Re: Use Bigger's Hist. books instead of CHOW for Preparing?
Can you tell me what Bigger does for Writing? I have the Preparing guide and can see what they do once a week in there. I feel my ds needs some writing now that he'll be 10.

Use Bigger's Hist. books instead of CHOW for Preparing?
I have an almost 10 yo ds and just turned 12 yo dd that I want to place. We are just finishing up reading CHOW this year with a different program I put together. We are finishing WH this summer, so I'd like to start Am. History this fall. My oldest could be placed in Res to Ref or RevtoRev, so since...

What do you do when you get behind in your daily schedule?
I've been spending hours pouring over the different schedules on the schedule thread and finally put something together similar to Carrie and Julie's schedules. In the past I have tried to do things like this, but then would get "off" by 15 mins., or so and then scurrying to know what to do now. Eve...

Re: To teach summaries, should I go back some guides?
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you Carrie!!! We are excited to start this new venture in our homeschooling. I just placed my order, following all of your recommendations. We will be excited to see the full Art Appreciation unit from World History when it becomes available. I think that is the only thin...

Re: To teach summaries, should I go back some guides?
I had one more question about DITHR. I know that in Preparing it is scheduled to do only 3 days/week. I've been struggling with that because at the beginning of the year, you plan out all the books you want them to read and it is supposed to be 15 days per genre. I thought of that as 3 weeks (5 days...

Re: To teach summaries, should I go back some guides?
I had a bit more time tonight to look at things. I think perhaps we ought to purchase the R&S 5 book. It looks like it covers things like summaries, taking notes and outlines that might be very helpful to her. If we do that, would you suggest that we complete that whole book in 1 year since we are g...

Re: To teach summaries, should I go back some guides?
Sorry for the delayed response. We have a crises in our family right now with my father. Again, I greatly appreciate your input. These are my thoughts right now. I think we should go back to RTR like you said, as soon as possible. We will do the left side of the guide as is. For the right side, we w...

Re: To teach summaries, should I go back some guides?
Thank you so very much for your response Carrie! I read it and have printed it out and am pondering and studying it. I'll try to touch back when I have some questions or thoughts to share. It looks really good from what I've been able to digest thus far. Again, I can't thank you enough for taking yo...

Re: To teach summaries, should I go back some guides?
... you said your daughter says her brain gets foggy and she can't focus. ... my first thought is to consider her diet. We discovered not long ago that when my son eats food with artificial flavors or colors that he said the same thing. He could do math, tell stories, behaved fine, etc. but when it...
