Re: Please help me Simplify!!!

I just wanted to update and say that since we've went back to using only HOD recommendations for Beyond, our days have been wonderful! I'm so glad I listened to that "still small voice" and didn't order Abeka Video School! The time we've spent in school has been cut in half and my dc are really enjo...

Re: Struggling with The Reading Lesson

I've had some of the same struggles with my 7yr old ds and I would say to keep moving slowly through TRL or take a break for a little while and get books that you know he CAN read and just let him practice those. In the link posted above, Carrie was addressing me and my struggles with my ds after fi...

Re: Please help me Simplify!!!

Thank you ladies for responding. Today I went with everything as written aside from the math and we have had such a better day! I wonder what Carrie's response would be to the reading for my ds. Today we started back with the ER set and put away AAR. He only has a few stories left in The Early Reade...

Please help me Simplify!!!

This is our third year homeschooling and we have used LHTH, LHFHG, and are started Beyond back in July. The two years I followed the guide as written we had such fun years! Well my oldest son (7) started having trouble with Singapore math mainly because he needs LOTS of review to remember anything. ...

Re: Breaking for Summer

We just finished our last day in LHFHG today! Yay! We plan to start Beyond and add LHTH for my littlest guy on July 1. My kiddos can't stand the heat so it works out great for our school year to run July-April :)

Re: R&S English 2...TM needed?

I haven't ordered yet....good point Daneale! I think that I would like my son to follow along in his own book. The set is pretty affordable so I guess you've changed my mind lol. I was planning to order it anyways but thought I'd ask what others did. Thanks everyone!

R&S English 2...TM needed?

I was fixing to place an order to Rod and Staff and was wondering if I also needed the TM to accompany Preparing to Build? I see it is listed as optional in the HOD catalog but was wondering if most of you ladies ordered it? Thanks!

Re: any prep before the day of school

We are finishing up LHFHG and my older is doing spelling and math from Beyond but I almost always prep everything the night before. I clean the kitchen and lay out all their school books in the order we will be using them. I look at what supplies we will need for any activities and have them set out...

Re: Grammar for 2nd grade in Beyond

I will have a 1st grader and 2nd grader in Beyond this summer . My 1st grader will complete Beyond as written. My 2nd grader will complete Rod and Staff English and the hands on math activities to accompany Singapore 2A/2B from the Bigger guide. I think it depends on the child but if you have alread...

Re: LHFHG Missing Day 3 Unit 28

Yes, my sister in law is only a few houses away and she graciously let me look at hers to see what I was missing. I follow the guides EXACTLY as written so I was glad to not have to skip those pages. Thank you for asking Katrina!

Re: LHFHG Missing Day 3 Unit 28

I am apparently missing those pages from my guide. My sister in law has LHFHG as well and those pages are included in her manual. I guess the place that spiral bound my guide somehow lost that page. So frustrating! Lesson learned. I'll be leaving my guides as is I guess. Ugh.

LHFHG Missing Day 3 Unit 28

I was getting our books laid out for tomorrow when I noticed I am missing the right side of day 3 in Unit 28 of LHFHG and the left side of day 4. I had our TM spiral bound and wondered if maybe they somehow forgot those pages or if it is missing originally? I do have the newer version of the guide. ...

Re: UPDATE: HOD WILL be at Arlington

Well I am so excited that HOD is going to be in the Nashville area!!!! So many homeschool moms in my area have never even heard of HOD. In fact my sister in law and I are the ONLY ones I know of that use this curriculum and I was the one who convinced her to switch at the beginning of last year lol....

Re: finish the wrong spelling of a word?

I have always let my ds finish spelling the word the way he thought it should be spelled. Then I will show him the card and have him correct spelling before moving on to the next word. This was the way I thought you were supposed to teach the spelling, not stopping them before they have even finishe...
