Dictation question
Hi there, My 10yo ds and 8yo dd finished Bigger in February but have both continued with math, spelling, grammar, copywork, and dictation for the remainder of the school year as we explore other areas of interest in the other subjects. When we start Preparing the fall, my ds will be in 5th grade. Sh...

Writing for a 5th grader
Hi, I hope everyone is having a great day. I am writing to ask for wisdom about keeping my 5th grader up to speed writing if we decide to use Preparing this year. He is finishing Beginning Wisely, dictation level 2 (I will bump him up to level 4 because he is capable), and Drawn Into the Heart of Re...

Re: Placement help, please. :)
Stephanie, That sounds like a wise plan. That is good that you are looking ahead. I am praying about going forward with Preparing with my 7yo a half speed until she is ready for full speed. I am going to bump my soon to be 10 yo to CTC since he is at that level and pray for him as he gets more indep...

Re: Placement help, please. :)
I think she really enjoyed all the Bigger books such as Pioneer Sampler, all the poetry, hymns, etc. We will probably find something separate to do until she is ready for Preparing. Thanks for your encouragement.

Re: Week-in-Review Dec. 15-19
Thank you for posting about your week. It is very encouraging to me. I currently have 2 kids in Beyond on week 27. They are growing so quickly and we have learned so much this year. I am thankful for the Christmas break so I can reflect, get refreshed, and seek ways to spend time with each of my fou...

Re: Copywork-Cursive
Thank you both for your insight. We have only learned cursive formally so we may need to do a formal print program although they both do print from time to time and I demonstrate correct print as needed. Thank you for your encouragement!

Currently, I have two kids combined using the Bigger curriculum. My 4th grade son, is reading the history and some of the science extensions. When I get to the unit 31, I notice Thomas A. Edison is listed as the science read aloud. Since he is assigned to read it on his own at unit 23, I suppose he ...

We are currently doing unit 22 in Bigger. My 4th grade, 9yo son is reading the History extensions and enjoying them. He didn't get into Exploring Planet Earth but I think he will enjoy Thomas Edison. We started DITHOR and it is going Okay so far. I need advice on how to structure the extra work for ...
