This blog has great week by week watercolor tutorials for CTC.
I don't know anything about watercolor, either, and this is amazingly helpful.

Re: Need help with older kids
Here is a thread I recently started about my olders. Julie jumped in and posted some samples from some of the books which may help you as you are trying to figure out what to do with them. It is definitely a challenge to figure out where to start when they haven't done HOD all the way through, isn't...

Re: Help with placement, again
OK, Julie, here we go again. Thanks again for giving me so much of your time as I work through this. I actually think the following instructions and doing the independent work will not be a huge issue. Because they are in combined age level classrooms, they have learned to work through their work wi...

Re: Help with placement, again
So, neither one of them had any trouble with the reading level. Both of them were able to recap the gist of the story without any trouble. I think that they would not have any trouble keeping up with that as a resource. Thanks so much for all your help. It definitely helps to be able to try to talk ...

Re: Help with placement, again
Thanks for chiming in, Julie. I have read through the placement charts. I am just not sure what to do with them! I think the reading would be an area where they are actually quite even in ability. They are only 15 months apart in age, even though they are two years apart in grade level in school. Be...

Help with placement, again
So, we have not used HOD for 5 year. My kids have been in a small Christian school which is closing at the end of this school year. We are having a difficult time with next year as my daughter will be in 8th grade. My son will be in 6th. We do not plan to homeschool for high school at this point, so...

Re: Prayer taking dh to the hospital
Praying for you and your family. I don't post anymore because we aren't homeschooling right now, but I continue to check the boards several times a week and have been praying for your whole crew! Lori

Re: Mom & Dad both homeschooling....
My husband was the sole "teacher" in our homeschool for 2.5 years. HOD is so amazing and well written that anyone can pick it up. (Grandma and Grandpa liked to do some boxes when they came to visit, too!) You can do it! I'm a nurse, too and while my husband was unemployed I was working 2 jobs. You g...

Wow!
OK, Carrie......I'm from Doon (now living in Michigan)
I knew you were from Iowa, but had no idea where.....I just had to giggle when I saw Rock Rapids. Who knew?
But now I know why I feel so right at home with this program....you are from right at home
Have a great day! Lori

Thanks, everyone
I've been over the placement charts, and honestly the younger one would probably fit into the Beyond placement chart better, but since he's been there and done that with his sister, I'll probably just forge on with Bigger and decrease some of the more intensive writing stuff. We've been so happy wit...

Should we push to Bigger next year?
All right, here goes. We've done LHFHG and are almost through BLHFHG. My question is this, my kiddos are 7 and almost 6. We've been teaching to the older and having the younger follow along, but I'm not sure he will be able to keep up next year if we try Bigger. DD, 7 is finishing emerging readers p...
