CTC Reference Books Question
In the CTC guide Introduction section on the third page under "Reading About History" for Day 1, it is recommended that you use "one or more comprehensive History encyclopedias (in print for, on CDs or on the internet)" as well as "A Bible dictionary or encyclopedia would also be helpful". I have a ...

Re: Thanks for another fabulous year, Carrie!
Congratulations on finishing the year with all those different guides! I am impressed and encouraged. How fun for your to look back and compare your children's work. This will be our first year with HOD. We are going to be using Rev2Rev, CTC and Bigger this coming year and I've been praying that I c...

Re: Went to Wright Bros Museum. Thanks HOD!
Thanks for sharing about this! We will be starting Bigger this coming school year my youngest two, and we have a family reunion planned in June 2014 in the Outer Banks! We will have to make sure we get a chance to go to Kitty Hawk. The plan is to rent several houses on the beach so we will be all to...

Re: Week in Review May 6-10, 2013
I'm a little late posting this, but I wanted to share our second week with HOD. My 15 yos completed Unit 2 in Rev2Rev on Saturday. He is doing extensions plus extra science. He is really enjoying the independence of having his own curriculum. I have been completely surprised with his written narrati...

Re: When will the newest program be up on the website?
Thank you so much for taking time to share this, Carrie! It is really helpful for planning ahead even if we aren't ready for the new guide. I know which books to reserve for the World Geography guide; as well as budgeting for the future. :D And I love that you are including Kisses From Katie! Mary i...

Re: Investigating HOD for middle school through high school
I am just getting started with HOD, but I am planning to do just as you suggested: RevtoRev with my 9th grader, so he would do MTMM in 10th etc.. My 7th grader is going to do CtC, so she will be on the same track. So I think your plan is a good one! I WAS planning to do government with MTMM an...

Re: Placement Help, Please!
Thank you, Julie! I already own R & S English 7, so I am going to go ahead and order R & S English 6 to look over them side-by-side. If I don't use Level 6 it with my 15 yo, I can use it with my 13 yo, and eventually my younger boys, so it won't go to waste either way. :D Thank you for the tip about...

Re: Placement Help, Please!
Thank you so much for your reply, Julie! It was really helpful and encouraging. . . . and a lot to think over too, especially in terms of scheduling our days, but that can come later. :) I feel pretty good about which HOD programs we are choosing to do. I'm going to stair-step our introduction to HO...

Re: Super excited!
I so wish I could have been there to see HOD hands-on and to get to meet any of the HOD team! You were blessed to get to go, Stacey. Maybe someday HOD will come to Colorado's homeschool conference. :) I have been thinking about Julie's devotional and am glad to hear it is as good as it looks. I will...

Re: Sneak Peek #12: New World Geography Guide
This sounds great! I love the name "Living Library" and am looking forward to seeing the book titles included. It is going to be hard to wait to get to this program. I am falling more in love with HOD every day, and we haven't even started using it yet. :D I can see how much care and detail you have...

Re: Placement Help, Please!
Since I feel more urgency in making a decision regarding my oldest two children, I have been focusing on trying to decide those curriculum choices first. After much thought and prayer, I am planning to do CTC with my 13 yo and RevtoRev with my 15 yo with extensions for both, unless I hear a compelli...

Re: Reason #25 to use HOD - The Self-Propelled Advantage!
Thank you for sharing this! It really inspired me! I have the book The Self-Propelled Advantage. We have been trying to make self-teaching work with another curriculum. I can now see that it needs to be a gradual progression- not dropping them off into the deep end and saying "swim". Your post opene...

Re: Placement Help, Please!
Hi Juls, Thanks so much for your reply! I appreciate you sharing your experience with HOD in Bigger and Preparing. I'm sure that Bigger is the right place for my 2nd grader. I am going to look more closely at the 3 week samples to try to get a better feel for where to place my 4th grader. I don't wa...
