We are new to HOD as well. We started our first guide (LHTH) in February and loved it so much we added in Beyond for my older DD soon after!

Great question! Thanks for answering, Stephanie :D I was just rolling along through without even worrying about tests. I guess it never occurred to me that on the days when I just tell her the word and she spells it...that's the same as a test :roll: I'm only 31 and already I'm getting senior moment...

We started Beyond when my DD was 5.5. She has actually done very well with it. She loves the history stories...actually she begs to do more every day. Same with the story time books. The science is quick and simple. There is a decent amount of writing, but you could ease into that as she gets ready....
