Re: High school courses
I had a similar situation. I wanted my girls to do the same classes at the same time for high school. It simplified things for me immensely. My upcoming senior is doing World Geography. Do what works. I don't think the colleges care what order classes are completed.

Re: Timely Bible and DITHOR topics
Many times God has used our Heart of Dakota studies to provide a Scriptural answer or encouragement for struggles or problems we are having. That's one of the things I love about the program. While all the lessons have the Bible as the foundation, I have seen no other program build a child into the ...

Re: How do you all Organize your HOD Materials
We had everything in our dining room on shelves and in an old dresser (art supplies). My older girls would work at the dining room table while I worked with the youngest in the living room. Well... I wanted to reclaim my dining room. It seemed like we continually ate in the living room because of al...

Re: Cle language to Rod and Staff
I went from CLE to Rod and Staff. CLE is very high quality in grammar. The only area where my dd had some trouble was in writing. She picked it up quickly, however. CLE doesn't do much writing instruction. They have an extra book you can purchase to help teach writing skills, but it's mostly ideas, ...

Re: So excited for next year! 9th and 5th grades!
I love reading posts from HOD users that have been using the program long-term. It's always so encouraging! :D My plan is to stick with HOD all the way from here on out. Thanks for the encouragement! I've simply fallen in love with this program. My Kindergartener is so excited for her lessons every ...

Re: Changing curriculum
I don't think repeating some history is a bad thing, especially with Heart of Dakota. I was trying to do my own thing last semester with two of my daughters. I even was using a couple of HOD choices! After one semester, I went back to HOD. With both girls we simply took the history back to the begin...

Re: Summer break & boredom
I've always wanted to school year-round! We've had a couple of crazy summers for the last couple of years though. I have one dd that easily loses ground math, and I know year-round schooling would be a petfect solution, even if at half-speed. Usually there are plenty of activities, especially free o...

Re: Sneak Peek #8: New World Geography Guide
Oooo.... I'm so excited! :P I've read a couple of these books and they are AMAZING! I Dared to Call Him Father is one of my favorites. :D It deals respectfully with the Muslim faith yet lays out the deep impact of Christ on Bilquis and why she turned to faith in Christ and perservered despite the pr...

Re: Sneak Peek #7: New World Geography Guide
Awesome! I had wanted and planned for a couple of these selections, but am thrilled with the list. I love a few of these, and don't know why I didn't think about adding them. Thank you Carrie for the sneak peek.

Re: Okay...here goes
LHTH was amazing for my dd. When we began she was a couple months shy of turning 4. We took it slow, using the younger options. Over a year later, at 5, she was doing some of the older options and was ready to begin learning to read. She still remembers some of the fingerplays and Bible stories! Enj...

Re: Rod and Staff vs. Thinking Skills workbooks
My dd is going to use the thinking skills book because we already used the R&S books. I can't say enough good things about the R&S books! :D My little left-handed 5 year old struggled with her fine motor skills a bit. I bought the entire ABC series, while attempting to plan my own lessons, after pre...

Re: Sneak Peek #5: New World Geography Guide
The World Geography guide was the one guide my highschooler wasn't going to need because she is doing World Geography this year. While I was still going to need it for my younger children, I think I'm going to get it for my older girl anyway, lol. All the sneak peeks have me wanting to go through th...

Re: 2 in one guide at different units
Ahh... sorry about the misunderstanding. I never thought about the fact that two in the same guide at different places could be difficult. I probably will try it with one guide, bookmarking the two places to easily flip back and forth, just to see if it's chaos or if I can make it work. But I...

Re: 2 in one guide at different units
I'm going to run into that situation next year. My older daughter will be half way through Rev to Rev when the younger daughter finishes up Res to Ref. I don't see a problem. In fact, I'm purposely choosing this option. My older dd will be using some extensions and the advanced science option since ...
