Re: Choosing between CTC and RTR - a wee bit of counsel?!
I am not sure my counsel is the best, but I was in your shoes when we made decisions for this year. We went with RTR (with extensions) even though I wanted the history of CTC. Looking at our year so far, I am so grateful we went with where DD placed skill-wise. In fact, she probably could have handl...

Student notebooking pages
What do you have your children use to write in these? There are times I have trouble reading the pencil my daughter uses. She's afraid of pen and so am I- handwriting is a struggle for her and at least pencil can be erased. I though about erasable pens but do they smear easily? I'm sure this has bee...

Re: Student Notebooks that accompany Apologia books?
I just had to chime in that my DD has used the Apologia notebooks in the past. This is our first year in HOD, and I feel like it is taking her up a notch to create her own according to Carrie's plans (and she loves it!)

Re: Great field trip for Rev to Rev or even Bigger or Beyond
Lynn, thank you so much for recommending this wonderful place. Our family did visit it just a couple of days ago and my kids were fascinated. There was nothing quite like seeing someone using a loom, pottery being made, the blacksmith at work, and experiencing what school may have been like as if th...

Re: getting ready for Resurrection to Reformation
Julie, thanks so much. This was just what I needed! I got my materials from HOD and am so impressed with the student notebooking pages!! She is really going to love them. I've been doing just what you suggested--thumbing through the intro and jotting down supplies we will need, but you are adding in...

getting ready for Resurrection to Reformation
After thinking and praying about it for a LONG time, I ordered RTR for my DD this week. I can't wait to get the guide and start looking at the books/notebooking pages. We were really ready for our summer break but now I'm getting the itch to think about next year. DD will be in 7th grade and we are ...

Re: Help with transposing b and d.
I love the Institute For Excellence in Writing "Letter Stories". It keeps reversals to a minimum. "b" is the bomb letter. It starts at the top...draw a line down..trace back up and "boom" make a "bomb" which is your circle. D is the doggy letter. IT DOES NOT START AT THE TOP. That is key. It starts...

Re: Help with transposing b and d.
The All About Reading author suggested doing a bat/ball for b and doorknob/door for d. You can draw a picture of that the first time you explain it to give a visual. For writing, what I've found works for my DS is to use the Handwriting Without Tears trick and tell him that the b is the dive down le...
