Are the phonics lessons in LHFHG planned throughout the entire guide? If my daughter finishes her phonics lessons before the end of the guide, what are my options? Go directly into Emerging readers or get readers from the library until we start Beyond?

Re: Carrie, did I miss it?
Diane, those sneak peeks haven't come out yet. Here's the main post with all of the current sneak peeks listed. http://www.heartofdakota.com/board3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=12933 Carrie updates this list with each new sneak peek. I usually check here first because it's easier than going through all of th...

Re: DITHOR and struggling reader
Have you had him read through the Emerging Reader set yet? That set is designed to move from the end of phonics/reading lessons and build confidence and proficiency. When finished with Emerging Readers you move on to DITHOR. If the Emerging readers are too difficult you may want to step back further...

Re: Placement for previously public schooled 4th grade twins
If you really want to use Singapore, here is the link to the placement tests. http://www.singaporemath.com/Placement_Test_s/86.htm Download the U.S. edition tests since these are the ones HOD offers. Start with the Primary Math 1A test and work your way through until your dc does not pass with an 80...

Re: Carrie: Beefing Up Chemistry in the Geography Guide
I know I'm not Carrie however I remembered there was a post she made during the MTMM sneak peeks that may be an answer to your question. The science in MTMM is Intro to Chemistry but not high school worthy unless you add the resources in her second post in the following thread. http://www.heartofdak...

Re: Help W/High School Plan, Please
It's odd to me they have no admissions requirements for coursework. Check other colleges to see what they require to at least get an idea of what's usual in your area just in case college choice or circumstances change.

Re: Help W/High School Plan, Please
It seems all of your other social studies credits were covered but missing those two pesky half credits usually required in most states. Plus plan 2 looks like my high-school plan when I graduated in 2002.

Re: MTMM High School Credit
When Carrie put up the sneak peeks for the geography guide the sneak peeks for MTMM were removed from the stickies above. However if you do a search titled Sneak Peek Missions to Modern Marvels (spelled out. Not using MTMM) you can find the info. Also, it is my understanding that adding the Extensio...

Re: Guide for 9th Grade
I would use MTMM next year with extensions and then follow the high school course of Geography, World History, and U.S. History 1 in the order they will be completed. Otherwise you will end up having two years of modern U.S. History on your daughter's transcript but no formal year of geography. In s...

he intentionally cooks enough for lunch the next day. When we fix our plates for supper, we also each fix a plate for lunch the next day. I bought a set of sectioned, deep microwavable plates with lids. We just put them in the fridge, and microwave them the next day. We have out a variety of fruit,...
