How to Use DITHOR With a Dyslexic
Hi, I am seriously needing advice on whether I should start DITHOR with my dyslexic son who is 10. He is very intelligent, but he can barely read on his own and it really slows him down. Writing is a bit better, but also lags. We will be doing Bigger with his younger brother. He will be picking up i...

Re: Question for emerging reader list for beyond little hear
Are they both reading at the same level? You can follow the list however you want. It took us a couple weeks to get acclimated with the program so skipped the first weeks. i've also had to switch books around because i couldnt get them at the right time, etc. You also have the option of the suppleme...

Advice for Special Needs
Hi, I am planning for next year as we finish up Beyond with my two boys (8 and 10). It was a great fit to do the one book together given they are both ADHD with sensory processing issues and my older has LD's. I am looking for advice going forward based on their special needs. As I look at the sampl...

Re: Struggling with a slow-paced child-advice please!
Hi! My 12 yo daughter is so slow I wish I could light a match under her most days, so I totally relate! She is doing Preparing. Earlier in the year I would get so frustrated with her, as we would be doing "school" off and on until dinner time or even at night time, which by then I would be so exhaus...

Re: Math U See and Singapore
Both are excellent programs and sometimes it depends on how your child learns which will be better. The activities in BLHFHG are wonderful hands on applications to lessons and concepts, making math more fun. Singapore is more visually appealing in my opinion, and truthfully my kids were bored with M...

Re: Preparing Hearts Beginning Question
Thanks! When you say "notebook" do you mean a three ring binder or a spiral bound notebook? I have gone through the intro again and written a list out and your suggestions are great. Also I was wondering about spelling...I've been using Sequential Spelling because it is a great fit for my older 2 ki...

Preparing Hearts Beginning Question
Sorry if this has been answered previously, but I didn't see it anywhere and don't have time to keep searching.... I just received my teacher's guides (YAY!) and was reading in PHFHG that in several subjects they will use a "common place book" and in others, a place to store their work. Is it recomm...

Re: Need Advice on Starting HOD
Thanks Pam, that actually was a help, I am going to thoughtfully consider what to do with my 7 yo apart from Preparing, and whether to try HOD or focus mostly on phonics/reading and math since its so hard to keep his attention.

Need Advice on Starting HOD
Hi everyone, I will be a first time user of HOD. I have 3 children, all adopted as a sibling group 5 yrs. ago. This will be my fourth year home schooling, on the advice of therapists who told us not to worry about the academics, but to nurture and heal our children. We have poured our hearts and sou...
