Re: Please warn me....
My jaw just dropped! I have read both Fallen Angels and Brave NEw World (was in high school...way back when) and what I remember then was feeling very uncomfortable reading it -- I can't imagine how you feel as a parent! I know that you will feel good about Carrie's work here at HOD -- with 5 childr...

Re: cursive dilemma
May I add my questions to this? We are using Beyond for my 8yo daugther and she wanted to learn cursive, so I went ahead and bought CC. SInce it is officially taught in Bigger, I am assuming there are explicit directions on how to use CC. I have never taught cursive, so I am not sure how to do it. I...

Re: How do you all Organize your HOD Materials
I am still trying to figure it all out, but we have 4 HOD guides and books in the house (LHTH, LHFHG, Beyond, and Preparing). I have books that are in use out where they can access them (which goes between canvas storage cubes, to 31 small utility totes. I just can't figure out which works best for ...

a logistics question
Ladies, you have helped me with big questions, like, "Which guides do I choose?" and "How do you get it all done!?" and all your advise has been a GODsend :) I have another question: With 3 guides running (or even 2!), how do you keep up with the guides? As in, literally, WHAT do you do with the phy...

Re: Fun Scheduling Idea!!
I love the simplicity of this idea! I am NOTORIOUS for spending undisclosed amounts of time fixing something up, only for it to be used 3 days! Clothespins, something to pin them too, and something to put them in when done -- fast, easy, effective!
Thank you for sharing this nifty idea!

Re: it's just not coming together -- help!
My heart is overwhelmed at the support. After I pushed the "submit" button, I felt like a whiney baby and immediately thought about how I sounded like I was just looking for sympathy. I regetted sending it and in the busy-ness of it all, only now had the guts to come back here to see what responses ...

it's just not coming together -- help!
Ladies, I am overwhelmed and was hoping that someone has been in this place before and can help steer me out! At its simplest, I am just not able to get my school-act together. With a 3 month old who can't stand to be awake and in the baby carrier at the same time (GASP! I have had two other childre...

Re: Should I do it?
Ladies, you have given me much to consider! What a wonderful place this is, that there are mothers who can speak openly their questions and get truthful, thoughtful answers. I appreciate this board and its members so much! Tammy, I read your reply this morning, and it hasn't left my mind all day. Yo...

Should I do it?
My 12 year old daughter (my oldest) is presently in Preparing, with extensions and DITHOR 6/7/8. In all honesty, I chose that because: (1) this is our first year using Heart of Dakota (2) I was pregnant with our 5th child, due in October (3) I lovelovelove Charlotte Mason, but have struggled with na...

LHFHG: how to organize student work
We took a loooooooong break and are basically just getting started with LHFHG with my 6yo son. I am realizing that I have nothing to keep his work in! How did I miss that?!?! (oh, maybe it was something about having a baby?) I have these little drawers from Wally-World that are sort of like workboxe...

Re: Preparing very iindependent?
Ladies, if you were here I would hug you all! I really, truly want HOD to work for us, but I am literally out of breath at the thought of running so many guides (I do believe my children are where they need to be), and not being able, in my own flesh, to let go and let them work on their own. This s...
