Re: Beyond for a 5.5 year old

Thank you all again for your very helpful responses! I am grateful for such kind, helpful mamas who take the time to help each other out! :D Melissa, I like your ideas about having him listen in, but actually starting Little Hearts again next year. I'll be praying about that. Blessings to all of you...

Re: Beyond for a 5.5 year old

Wow! I really appreciate everyone taking the time to help me figure this out! When our oldest started LHFHG last year our original plan was to keep the boys separate, so the younger boy was more listening in at first. As we went on though, our younger son was consistently asking to do more and was p...

Re: Beyond for a 5.5 year old

Thank you for all of your helpful responses and encouragement! So one more question. Which boxes should my younger son continue to do in the younger guides? Right now he will continue to FIne Motor Skills, Math Exploration, and Reading Choices from Little Hearts. So will the boxes in the same place ...

Beyond for a 5.5 year old

Hi all! I hope you are all enjoying your last days of summer OR having some great first days of school. :) We are currently in week 29 of LHFHG with our 7 and 5.5 year old sons. They have both really enjoyed doing school together and we want to keep them together as long as possible. They are each d...

Re: Math placement question

Thank you Julie! That is very helpful! I think finishing out 2A this summer and doing 2A/1B for the school year will be a comfortable pace for him. I appreciate your insight.

Enjoy your weekend :D

Math placement question

Hello! We started LHFHG with our 6 year old boy before summer started and now we are taking a break over the summer while still working through TRL and some math. The curriculum we used for K was extremely light in math, so we are going through Early Bird math 2A right now hitting the areas he didn'...

Re: Poor attitude during school work

Thank you ladies for all of your wisdom and insight! I think I was unclear about the phonics. The Reading Lesson is great and is working well for both boys. I was just saying on top of an already difficult attitude his little brother isn't too far behind him and I don't want that to cause more issue...

Poor attitude during school work

After much thought, prayer, and advice given as to what guides to use and what materials to order, we finally ordered, received and started using our new materials last Wednesday. I'm loving HOD and seeing our kids learning together! Our kids are almost 6, 4, 2, and 8 months. Our 4 year old is using...

Re: Questions from a newbie

It does makes sense! Thanks for sharing with me. Seems like with HOD you are able to customize very specifically to the needs of each child. I can't wait for our order to arrive!

Enjoy your weekend!

Re: Questions from a newbie

Hi Alicia! Thank you for helping me! It was very helpful hearing about what your family is doing. Your kids are about the same ages as ours will be in the fall. As I've been looking at the LHTH guide and talking to a few friends who use HOD, it seems like it is a repeat of what we've already done in...

Re: Questions from a newbie

I realized I mis-typed earlier. Our oldest is placing in early bird math 2b not 2a. That probably doesn't make too much of a difference, but I'm trying to figure out if we could start LHTH with our older kind of finishing up K and then starting LHFHG at a first grade level in 6-8 months. That would ...

Re: Questions from a newbie

Hi Julie! Thank you for the great details and the options! I talked to my husband more about all of the options and we've landed on combining the boys (almost 6 and 4) and starting them in LHTH. So if we start now and do 2 pages per day, when would we start LHFHG? Also, even though our oldest has ju...

Re: Questions from a newbie

Thank you Julie for these well thought out plans! I love how flexible this curriculum is and how custom it can be for our family. I have a lot of questions as I try to wrap my mind around all of this, so please bear with me!! I was hoping to start sooner than later so we don't lose skills learned in...

Re: Questions from a newbie

Thank you Julie for your response! Our oldest (6 at end of May) is reading three letter words well and starting to read words with two-consonant endings. He know some sight words as well. He can write all of his letters and numbers, but gets antsy after writing more than about 6 words in one sitting...
