Re: World Geography Guide
It sounds like he has an AMAZING opportunity! I want to take part in that! My kids too! I have no wisdom to add except to say that if that is his focus is this extra aviation thing, then that should be a priority. I'm not saying the other stuff isn't important, maybe it should just be in the backgro...

Re: remedial student with Medieval Writing Lessons
Also in the medieval writing lessons there are suggestions for the level a student. You could follow those instead of the level b suggestions.

Re: Medieval Writing-teacher guide?
It depends:
The teacher guide has hints for you, sample outlines, and game instructions as well as vocabulary quizzes/tests. I found it helpful especially when the students get stuck on an outline.

Re: Preparing and IEW
We always use IEW with HOD. There are several reason, the main on being that I teach IEW classes, so it just makes sense for us to use IEW instead of the other writing in HOD. It does not add any time to our day because we replace any of the writing assignments in HOD with IEW. i do still require th...

Re: Child Reading the Read-Aloud
My daughter has read almost all of the read aloud selections in Preparing. There wee a few at the beginning of to repairing that I read out loud to the entire family, but she has read all of the rest on her own. Same for my daughter who did CTC and now RTR. They read the story time selections to the...

Tiffani,
I too was at the IAHE convention today. As I perused many many items, I wondered the same thing as you about literature. This is an area which I need to make a decision on for my oldest for next year.

We will always stick with IEW. It's the best available and makes the most sense.

Re: skip spelling list 2 and move on to dictation?
You could definitely try dictation. Remember that it will be a new skill for her so until she figures that part out it will be a little bit challenging. I moved my son to dictation after doing about half of the level 2 spelling lists. There is some overlap, so he's doing well with it.

Re: Week in Review: Feb. 17-21
I have begun to feel like all of my week in reviews sound similar and it might be boring to some. This week I posted a very thorough review about the science in Rev2Rev--exploration education advanced. Feel free to take a look at it. http://roseacademyacademics.blogspot.com/2014/02/curriculum-review...

I want to talk about MTMM for freshman year of high school
Mostly concerned about the science: Was considering not doing the HOD science at all and instead doing biology. It's not a problem at all for me to teach it on my own. I even have all of the resources scoped out and ready to purchase. However, I have seen the beauty of having the science all planned...

Affiliate program?
Does HOD offer an affiliate program? I know I've personally recommended HOD many time over the past few years. even if it was just a small percentage it would be nice to able to receive a discount or a few dollars off future purchases. :) I link quite often back to HOD in blog posts and such that it...

Re: Copywork dilemma
I think it would also depend on your goal. He is an older child and most likely as he gets older any writing that he would need to do, for a career, college, or high school, he would be able to type it anyway. I think at this age, I'd allow typing. It's still copy work and you can still require perf...
