Doing a HOD Co op?

I will be starting CTC with a friend and we want to put together a little co op for our kids. We will be doing CTC. Are there any ideas as to how to do a co op with HOD? We were thinking of getting the Biology 101 and watching that together (Carrie had recommended that to up the science for our kids...

Re: Where to start a 6th grader new to HOD?

Our stories are almost identical and I have been instructed by Carrie and Julie both to start my 13 year old 7th grader in CTC doing Rod and staff 5. We too are sticking with our saxon which Carrie's husband says it difficult to make the transition to Singapore this late in the game sometimes and he...

Re: CTC for a 13 year old

Julie, You all are so amazing. I have never in all my years of homeschooling had such support and individual concern and help with my endeavors. You answered all of my questions especially the cursive. I am trying to get him to work on reading a book in about 15 days and a little more challenging bo...

Re: Toddler Activities?

I have a VERY active 2 almost 3 year old and this saved my life. A friend of mine suggested doing stations for my 2 year old. She is blanket trained and knows when mommy puts her on a blanket or little rug she is to stay on it. I have 3 stations. One is her blanket which we alternate toys each day o...

Re: CTC for a 13 year old

Wow! Thank you so much Carrie. What a blessing that was. So I need to order the extension pack instead of the basic? Are the books harder to read? I don't want to make it any harder than it has to be. But I do love the idea of not doing all those read alouds--I never even thought of that. Also, with...

Re: CTC for a 13 year old

My son has read books such as diary of an early american boy, which he loved, some of the Janet and Geoff Benge books on Christian Heroes. This seems to be a perfect reading level for him. He is currently reading the Scout series which we get from Vision Forum. He seems to thrive off of reading anyt...

Re: CTC for a 13 year old

Yes, I did the chart and he seems to place in the Res to Revival but am leery about starting him there because of his reading level. I also would not get the extension pack if I did CTC. I think that the reading level for that would be perfect with him without it. Hoping he wont be overwhelmed with ...

CTC for a 13 year old

We are new to HOD and I am trying to place my 13 year old son. His reading is not super strong but he is not a struggling reader either. Also we have no previous exposure to dictation or narration. I am an extremely busy mom with a baby on the way in 6 weeks and also have a 3 year old and a 6 year o...
