Re: ideas to combine/extend Beyond?
I beefed up Beyond for my 3rd grader last year. I wrote up a blog post on the subject if you'd like to see what I did. http://cindyshomeschoolblog.blogspot.co ... rader.html

Re: Using WG if we've just completed Mapping the World/Art
Hypothetically, if a ninth grader had just completed Mapping the World Through Art in 8th grade, how would we proceed with the World Geography Guide? Would it be possible to do the guide and just skip the MWTA assignments, or would we need to substitute some other resource, OR- should I make the re...

Re: How is World Geography going?
We love it too. It has been a fun year and we've had some great discussions. My son (15 yrs old) is quite dyslexic and dysgraphic so we aren't doing every subject (or working as quickly as some) but I have made some accommodations to his load so that we make it work. This is his first year using HOD...

Choosing a Chemistry Course
I am planning to start my oldest son with HOD this coming year which will be his 10th grade year. (My youngest started HOD last year using Beyond.) We will be using the Geography Guide, but I am going to have to come up with a science alternative for him. I would love to use the Integrated Chemistry...

Co-op days can still be counted as school days. Enrichment days are still learning days. ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Re: Math Quesrion: I'm worried I have messed up!
Don't worry, you haven't messed up. Your kids are still young. You will find them the right placement and they will do great. Remember don't compare them to other kids or to what Public or private schools are doing. Put them where they need to be. I have used Math-U-See for several years. Don't thin...

Re: Question about Emeging Readers.
The Emerging Readers schedule with comprehension questions are listed at the end of the Beyond manual. So, you can start anywhere you feel your child would do best. For my 8 y/o, he really needed to start at the beginning as it did improve his confidence. He can now read books from the 2/3 book list...

Re: Stories of the Pilgrims (older version)
Thanks! That's pretty much what we've been doing too. I have looked at the new edition. It seems to be pretty much the same without the nice color pictures.

Stories of the Pilgrims (older version)
I know there has been some talk about the Stories of the Pilgrims (used in Beyond). According to the Alternate Schedule posted on the HOD website, it is to be used with the 2007 edition of the book and the older 1991 version is the schedule listed in the Beyond manual. However, I believe that the sc...

Beefing Up Beyond for a 3rd Grader
From the talk on this board, the Yahoo group and the Facebook group, I have heard a lot of talk about using Beyond for 3rd grade and if it is appropriate. This year I am using Beyond for a 3rd grader. As I realized there has been interest on how to beef up Beyond for an older student, I went ahead a...
