MFW vs HOD
A friend of mine uses MFW. She's interested in learning more about HOD and learning about how the two compare. Would someone please link to a thread on this? I know I've seen it in the past. Thanks so much!

Re: Son struggling in Bigger. Please help!
Could you maybe let him read something that is easy and fun for him and let him practice narrating those books for a while? Maybe having a couple of weeks of successfully narrating will help things click when you start back at the more challenging level. If you took a short time off from Bigger, yo...

Re: Son struggling in Bigger. Please help!
A few thoughts...As Stephanie said, maybe spring fever? Or, have you been busier/up later because of more daylight? Maybe he needs a little more sleep. Have you been eating differently, i.e more snacks containing additives or more sugar? Is he having a growth spurt? My guys also get spacy then, and...

Son struggling in Bigger. Please help!
My 8 year old 2nd grade son is really struggling. He has successfully completed LHFHG and Beyond for Kindergarten and first grade. He's always been an energetic, distracted little guy, but he's bright and enjoys learning. Here we are in Unit 27 of Bigger and things have gotten pretty unmanageable. H...

Re: Science and Math in LHFHG
As far as math goes, we have used MUS Primer, Alpha, and Beta. My oldest daughter is getting ready to begin Gamma in a few weeks. Another option for your daughter would be to continue in MUS. We have been very happy with it and feel it's an excellent math program. My oldest daughter has struggled a ...

Re: Help! My daughter read ALL of her science books too soon
Thanks for all the feedback. You've all made me feel better and that it's not such a big deal. Notebooking and conducting experiments will certainly add more depth than what she gleaned by reading alone. I will have to be more careful in the future to guard the HOD box when it comes in the mail.

Help! My daughter read ALL of her science books too soon.
My 7 year old daughter is currently finishing up Beyond as a 2nd grader. She will be starting Bigger next month for 3rd grade. We received all of our Bigger materials in the mail about 3 weeks ago. My daughter is a voracious reader (she usually reads 3-4 hours per day) and so I told her she could re...

Re: Anyone in St Louis, MO?
Hi there! I was reading through old posts and just saw this. I am from St. Louis originally. I'm married to a soldier, so we are living at Fort Bragg, NC currently. However, we are moving to Fort Leonard Wood, MO this summer. It's only two hours away from St. Louis. Have you moved yet? What area of ...

Re: Foreign languages
Does your library have Rosetta Stone available? I've heard excellent reviews of Rosetta Stone but have never used it myself. Are there other resources for learning German through your local library? How about a local college with a German speaking student looking to earn a little income? There is a ...

Re: I need advice! Please!
This is definitely a tricky situation! As difficult as it is to follow the biblical model at time when it comes to confrontation, I think it's the best thing to do. In other words, I think you should go talk to this woman one on one and voice your concerns in a respectful way. If she is receptive an...

Bigger and DITHR question
Hello! I just placed my order for our next school year (we start in June). For my daughter who has just completed grade two using Beyond, I ordered Bigger with third grade options. After placing my order, I read more about Drawn Into the Heart of Reading, and I think I'd like to add it to her third ...

Re: Finishing Emerging Readers but not ready for DITHOR
Hi there, My 6 year old DD just finished up LHFHG for 1st grade. Like your daughter, she is an excellent reader but is not ready for DITHOR. My daughter just doesn't have the maturity for the depth of literature study that I think would be prevalent in DITHOR. With that being said, I take her to the...

History Stories for Children in LHFHG. Wrong page numbers?
We're almost finished with LHFHG with our DD 6. I suppose I should have looked into this earlier since we only have 10 days of school left, but the page numbers listed in the guide for the reading selections from History Stories for Children are all incorrect. Each day we read from History Stories f...

Re: My 4 year old doesn't listen well (considering LHTH)
Thank you ladies for your thoughtful responses. I appreciate each one of you offering your insight! I think I will plan on starting LHTH with him soon and just lowering my expectations as far as him answering the questions correctly following each bible story. I'm sure that, in time, he will develop...
