Re: LHTH with young 2?
I'm using it for my almost 2 (this month) and almost 4 year old. My little guy really gets it. He can identify a few letters and tries to sing along with some of the songs. He totally loves it. I'm sure I'll just repeat it for the next few years with him. We call it school but they really think it i...

Re: Math Supplement for Pre-K
Please go on and on! I've never heard of any of those. I've tried to gather living books on my own from Half Price Books, just as I find them but I don't know which ones are best. Thanks for those suggestions! I'd love if you could tell me some others that are good

Re: Math Supplement for Pre-K
Carrie, thank you so much for your reply! He is almost 4. I was back and forth on LHTH or LHFHG but I opted for LHTH based on his attention span, not really where he is academically. I'm not sure if that was the right decision but I also have a 2 year old so I liked the idea of them doing it togethe...

Math Supplement for Pre-K
I typed this and deleted then typed again. I know there are different thoughts about how much school time is appropriate for this age. DS1 is young and we are working through LHTH pre-k. It is a review for him but I don't really want him to be ahead of his age b/c I think in a few years it will kind...

Re: school rooms
Just thought I'd post a couple of pics of our space. We basically have a playroom that I use for school :) I store our several books and things we don't use often in a lateral file cabinet in our office and the puzzles, craft supplies, workbooks, etc. in the drawers in the playroom. The weekly assig...

Re: New Here...2 Boys, 2 Years apart
Thanks for your reply! It's good to hear that 2 different curriculum packages isn't as hard as it sounds. We started on Progressive Phonics on Monday but that is all we are doing over the Christmas break...mostly just to keep his focus. If we take 2 weeks off it is hard getting it back. He LOVES it....

Re: New Here...2 Boys, 2 Years apart
Thanks so much! I'll check those links out :) I got the book 100 Easy Lessons in the mail (I had purchased it sight unseen b/c it was fairly cheap) and it is not at all what I thought it was. A friend had suggested it but our kids are VERY different and my little guy would be totally discouraged by ...

Re: New Here...2 Boys, 2 Years apart
Thank you so much for your reply! I'm getting more and more excited by the day. We've been using a CM preschool curriculum but it's pretty boring for DS and he is high energy to say the least so its just not working for him anymore. Its good to hear that the planning is so minimal. That is one reaso...

Re: New Here...2 Boys, 2 Years apart
Thanks for sharing how it works for you guys! I think my boys will really enjoy going through this first level together as well! I want to learn more about the reading programs you suggested. I get a little overwhelmed by all the choices but its good to hear when something works. Am I understanding ...

New Here...2 Boys, 2 Years apart
I have 2 boys, almost 4 and almost 2 and I'm trying to figure out how to best use the curriculum. The almost 4 year old knows all of his letters and letter sounds, numbers, can count to 100, and knows how to write his name. I feel like he's been ready to learn to read for a while now and he tries to...
