Re: Looking toward Preparing, but will need to beef up with
The other thing is if you add in DITHR, that is another 9 books a year. Another thing you could possibly do it get the extension pack from Bigger and have her read those too. Mind you, if she is anything like my girls they read at least two or three library books a week that have nothing to do with...

Re: Looking toward Preparing, but will need to beef up with
I had already planned on the extension package, but that is only 10 books. I am having a hard time with the fact that HOD seems so light compared to other program. When I showed it to DD, she said where's the books? I am happy to buy more (I am thinking in terms of 50 plus more). I am doing the com...

Looking toward Preparing, but will need to beef up with more
books for my 5th grader. Is there a comprehensive list somewhere that adds a significant amount of literature for Preparing. I don't want to reinvent the wheel if this has already been done.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Re: Does Preparing cover all of CHOW? And....
Thanks ladies! I appreciate your help. I wish I could get my hands on a guide
My favorite guide, so far, is Sonlight, with Winter Promise a close second.
I think I will ask around here locally and see if I can see one in real life before I make a decision.
Thanks again!

Re: Does Preparing cover all of CHOW? And....
So the main books are listed in the body of the guide, then I would have to flip over to the appendix for the other books, then to a separate guide for the Drawn into the Heart of Reading. Do I have that right. I am wanting to love this program, but I am not liking the looks of the sample guide so I...

Re: Considering HOD next year, but have some concerns
We completed Preparing when my ds was 10. He is a voracious reader and was thrilled with the program. He did choose to read other books on his own for pleasure, but he did that with Sonlight Cores 1-4 anyway. We did use the extension pack as well as every other listed resource. I have to say, since...

Re: Considering HOD next year, but have some concerns
Absolutely! You can use the Extension package for your 10 year old 5th grader to beef it up...especially if he/she is a voracious reader. I took a look at the extension package, it looks like it has 10 books, right? Unfortunately, that just isn't enough. For our current program, we have 35 read alo...

Considering HOD next year, but have some concerns
Hello. We are in our 5th year of homeschooling. I have 4 children, 2 currently in school and adding a third next year. Next year my school aged children will be 10,8, and 5. I am looking for a program for the 10 and 8 year old. Until now, we have done either Sonlight, Winter Promise, or a combinatio...
