Re: Pull son from HOD for next year?
Thanks, Melissa! And, yes, you are right...he needs to be weaned :) today I had him do his science (land animals, apologia) reading on his own and then orally narrating to me. He did it! I was so pleased and surprised. I love how HOD teaches skills little by little and then before I know it, they ...

Re: Pull son from HOD for next year?
Thought I'd update this post from one year ago when I was so confused about what to do with my son and whether or not to stick with HOD or not.
First, to recap, my oldest two children (11yo daughter and 8 yo son a year ago, 5th and 3rd grades) had always been schooled together (except for grammar ...

Re: Still praying for next years cirriculum
I'm sorry about your baby. How are you? I've lost three babies and have had four healthy children. Every time I hear about or meet someone or find out about someone who miscarries, I'm taken back to that loss. I know what you mean about just surviving. When you're ready to talk about splitting the ...

Re: Pull son from HOD for next year?
Thank you, again for taking time to "talk" this through with me :)
I have been praying about this and last night I read everything I could about every detail with CTC and RTR, trying to really imagine what my day will look like doing 3 guides (I'm doing the lowest level with my 2&3 year olds now ...

Re: Pull son from HOD for next year?
We are only beginning week 20 and with our cross country move happening in 8 weeks we will not be finishing until the first week of October.
So, pulling him now is an option.
Thank you for all your thoughts and suggestions. I like the idea of moving back into Bigger with him now. i think hed be ...

Pull son from HOD for next year?
I am stumped.
This is our second year with HOD. And, we love it. We did Bigger last year. This year are in Preparing. However, my son who is soon to be 9 is not doing all the "I" boxes on his own and I shorten his copywork and he can't just look at the teacher guide and follow the instructions on ...

Re: Student Led Learning Philosophy
We are new to HOD this year and are using Bigger for my 7 and soon to be 10 year olds (2nd & 4th "grades") with Extension Package. I also have a 2 and 1 year old. In an effort to not waste precious school time when I'm tending to the Littles, I created an Independent Work checklist individualized to ...
