Re: Special HOD moment
Oh Lynn, this just bought tears to my eyes. I can imagine the joy he felt when he heard that. May the Lord continue to bring such messages to his heart to reassure him he is on the right path.

Re: concerned about reviewing the learned lesson
Natalija, I just want to share something that someone once told me. It is a bit like putting a little piece of information on a peg and as the years go by adding more to each peg until the information for that peg is complete. This has been great for me because it also helps me see when my own pegs ...

Re: Help picking books
Mind you The Enchanted Wood would be ok, I have been reading it to my blossoms, it is probably considerably more far fetched and involves gnomes and elves and other things so you may not be quite so keen.

Re: Help picking books
Have you read Poppy by Avi? That was a fabulous book, my girls and I read it together for Dithor when they were 9 and 12. It certainly would keep a boy entertained I would think. I was really surprised what a great book it was.

I love reading all the weeks in review. Thank you ladies for taking the time to share. I must start doing it again. Lynn, I always love to see what is happening at your house and love how you rejoice in the improvements that Noah makes. Julie, you do a great job at sharing your boys week. It is love...

It is split into all the separate books, eg 4A Textbook, then 4A Workbook. I often have to double check I'm looking at the right set of answers. It did take awhile to get used too.

Re: Placement question. Ctc or res to ref
My daughter did Preparing with extensions at age 11, so when she finished we skipped CtC and went straight to RtR without the extensions as it is where she placed. She is now part way through RevtoRev. We had tried to combine our girls in Preparing but my younger found it too much of a struggle and ...

She will really enjoy it. We are in Unit 4 or 5 and thoroughly enjoying the challenge but most especially the depth and how things are so interwoven. Mind you, I like that about HOD in general.

Re: brag on Evie (slightly OT) and a big thanks to the board
That is so great. I too, have learnt this lesson, however a little late with my almost 9yr old. We have struggled for the last three or four years with reading. He is now going through the emerging readers and is ready for them. I know now with him I should have waited until he was 7 or 8 before beg...

I am another who would suggest TRL. My oldest son is a delayed reader, however after doing TRL at his pace he has just finished reading Owl at Home. He will struggle with reading for awhile yet but that foundation has been so beneficial to him.

I think I would be hard pressed to choose. From what I've seen of World History, I can't wait till my oldest is high school level. HOD is such an exciting journey.

Re: Teacher's Guide
Cheryl, I also do not have time to read all the books, so what I do is just flick through as we are discussing the questions. Often I will just take her word for it in those instances, but can see she is on the right path if you know what I mean.
