Re: Doctrinal issue. Please,any advice?

Hi!thank you for sharing this, Julie! Just as I thought that I still can discuss it all with my son. :D There is a lot of mess in the human history, because it is worlds passions, desires and ways at work. There is no God's will in most of it. He will bring people to judgement for wrongs they commit...

Re: Nature Study & music question

The nature study is included in science segments. In the back of our LHTHG you will find a supplemental material suggestions I believe from My father's world. To do nature walks we also use community HS field trips. They have nature walks often. As for music we do two things: we do piano lessons and...

Re: Doctrinal issue. Please,any advice?

Yes, i agree we Have to teach history. But it is very important to teach about the wars and the historic figures in the light of the teachings of the New Testament. I am certainly not omitting the wars. Most countries were formed by wars, it does not make it right though and worthy of praise and def...

Re: Doctrinal issue. Please,any advice?

Thanks a lot, people. Wealth of input. I grew up in Russia and we learned a lot of misinformation about history. I want my son learns the history strictly in the light of teachings of Jesus and His apostles. The New Testament is very different from Old Testament as for the issue of war and self-defe...

Re: Doctrinal issue. Please,any advice?

Raindrops, this is actually very helpful. THank you. What happened in history is the fact, we just have to interpret it from the position of the truth of the NEW TESTAMENT. I guess I could use Rod and Staff, but we so get used to the materials of HOD, I would not want to change unless it is absolute...

Doctrinal issue. Please,any advice?

Hi! I have been using Heart of Dakota for 3 years already. We love it a lot! I have a very delicate issue to discuss though. Lately I have been interested in learning more about American history in the light of the Bible. I have changed my view on how really Christian was the way the colonists took ...

Re: 5 year old bored....please help!

Hi, i may be too late. I do think that if your 5 y.o.is a good reader, it may be a good idea to beef up the program with using some of the LHFHG guide. Because LHFH still teaches letters, but he already reads. U can start with using LHFHG only for reading part, OR EVEN TRY TO USE BLHFHG which is the...

Re: concerned about reviewing the learned lesson

Thanks, Stephanie, i have been wondering about that for a while. The information we learn here is too good not to retain. But i am sure Carrie has a reason why she does that the way she does. I just know my personal style of learning that I don't aquire much if I don't drill something. I am glad to ...

concerned about reviewing the learned lesson

Hi! I have been using HOD for two years now and I really like it. I have one concern though. We are doing LHTH(hearts). We love to learn about history persons, like Alfred the great, Columbus etc. But we learn about them for one day without reviewing it again. How can my son learn and remember it if...

Re: HOD and visual learner

Hi! Thank you for your GREAT HELPFUL comments! It is good to learn that some of you here have visual learners too and you have seen benefits of the HOD in the long run. Also I want to add that my intuition suggests that his visual side is already strong, but the HOD is helping him "concentrate" on t...

HOD and visual learner

Hi! We have been using HOD Little hands to Heaven with my 4 y.o. - now he is 5 y.o. We still use it (we go half speed). He really enjoys the parts where we have to "make " things using different materials. But I have one problem. The "talking" part where I have to "explane" him the moral values and ...

Re: Review of learned material question

Thanks, Mellisa!
That was helpful! I still learning how to use it, so SOMEHOW I thought that there is a new fingerplay for each day :) Now I looked through the book again and you right it is only one for the whole week!
Have a great day!
