Re: Placement Help for 10 year old
My 10 year old really struggles with school. He has ADHD, a phonological processing disorder that makes reading & spelling extremely difficult and delayed fine motor skills which make writing a struggle. With your original challenges listed here; I would use the placement chart and use what you thi...

Re: Placement Help for 10 year old
How did he do with LHFHG Bible, History, Literature, and Science this year? What made you drop Beyond as being too much mid-year this year? Preparing would be a huge jump from either guide. I remember cursive being taught in Bigger. There is also copywork in Bigger. Are you looking for Bible, Histor...

Re: Pilgrim's Progress Throughout the Years
We enjoyed Pilgrim’s Progress too! We really liked Little Pilgrim’s Progress, which includes his wife following later on for the same journey for the second half of the book. I’ve had two use the Pilgrim’s Progress for High School. It is a wonderful study with thoughtful questions that they fill in....

Re: Chemistry in US History I
Thank you, daybreaking, for the reassurance and confirmation that it is okay to skip the tests this time around!
The labs, lab write-ups, readings, questions, and reviews are going well. They are a challenge, but they are also successful.
Thank you!

Chemistry in US History I
When I’ve used this book previously, I have used the tests.
Has anyone ever used Carrie’s option of not using the tests?
In our state an algebra based lab science is required for graduation, but this time I think it would be better without the tests.
Thoughts? No tests?

Re: First time ordering!
It looks mostly right to me. The Learning to Read Activity book is new since I used LHFHG, but it looks like Carrie does suggest it first before the phonics program and then the two phonics books before The Reading Lesson. My only question would be if you should start with the two phonics books sinc...

Re: Not Giving 5YO Time He Needs
I think you could do Bigger for your older sons needs and meet your five-year olds needs. It sounds like your five-year old needs mom time, maybe outdoor time, exercise, boy play, etc. I wouldn’t label him late bloomer yet, but you know him best. Traditionally, school started at ages 8 or 9 with the...

Re: MTMM for highschool
We were in New York for a year of our homeschooling, and it can be a challenge! MTMM could be Life Science ?. WG science could be Physical Science. The Evolution book is High school (9th - 12th: Master books web-site) The World of Chemistry is High School level (see the Master book web-site that has...

Re: Dithor 2 book order
In answer to the phonics / emerging reader question, I thought I would share what I did and what I’m currently doing: My daughter currently doing LHFHG is doing it with Rod and Staff first grade readers and phonics; it is similar to pathway readers and phonics. When she completes the grade 1 phonics...

Re: Little hearts Science & other ?s
Just wish that math box would line up 😂 Are you using Singapore 1A / 1B that is recommended for first grade with LHFHG? For first grade, you use the Singapore 1A / 1B schedule in the appendix and skip the box in the daily plans for math. Or, if you don’t like Singapore, you can choose your own firs...

Re: Little hearts Science & other ?s
Hi! I am wondering if anyone can share some tips for the little hearts science? Do you focus mostly on the activity? It’s obviously very brief in the text and not very exciting. Also- My DD6 is maturing a lot lately, and I’m feeling like the only things that are age/developmentally appropriate for ...

Re: Notebooking Pages: plans to print in NON high-gloss paper?
Ladies, I've been away from the board for awhile while writing new products. We've also been with our son Greyson back and forth to Mayo clinic many times this past year (and just got home Tuesday again) as he has Crohns/colitis and continued complications from the total removal of his colon he exp...

Re: Dianne Waring CDS
Has anyone added the other cds too? True tales and I think digging deeper? We did! They aren’t necessary with the guides, and I didn’t schedule them or try to coordinate them with the scheduled CDs that they did on their own. We played them in the car, and we all enjoyed them as extra history for f...

Re: CTC- what in the world
Yes, Story of the Ancient World does have a Biblical Worldview. My kids and I loved the Diana Waring audios so I am probably partial to them. I agree with Rice though that from CTC thru MTMM you will miss huge amounts of the history by dropping the audios. I’m sorry that they didn’t work for you, bu...

Re: CTC- what in the world
Is it Diana Waring? There is a Biblical worldview and particular insights to the history that is specific to her audio. Some of the history presented is only on her audio. I agree with Stephanie that doing their learning weakness can help later on as they encounter information presented in a variety...
