Re: Time Management Help, Please!
I have my daughter do one box at a time. We start HOD around 9. I give her about 30 minutes per I box. So at 9:30, I all her what she has gotten done. Again at 10, 10:30, and 11. That way she is only focusing on one thing at a time. Thank you for responding. Does it take your DD 30 min to complete ...

Time Management Help, Please!
I currently have three guides going. My oldest will be 12 the end of December and we've been using CTC since March. She's grown a lot and is a super helper in the home, but really needs help with time management because it is a rarity that she completes an entire lesson. Most of the time she's not d...

Re: Combining a Kinder with a 2nd grader. Is it possible?
I would not put a 6yo in Bigger. It might work for a year, with that child basically tagging along in things of interest while focusing on the basics, but it isn't a long term solution. If you want to combine, you have to place the lower and beef up for the older. That would mean doing LHFHG with b...

I was curious about placing them both in Bigger, mostly for the history, science, geography, and read alouds.

Re: Combining a Kinder with a 2nd grader. Is it possible?
Hi there! I'd love to help sort this out with you, but I have a few questions first. Can you share a bit about your almost 8 yo and your 6 yo as far as placement in reading, writing, grammar, and math (I'll link the placement chart below for your reference)? Also, how did your almost 8 yo do in Bey...

Combining a Kinder with a 2nd grader. Is it possible?
I have four children. 11, 7 (8 in a few weeks), 6, and 18 months. My almost 8 year old, is finishing Beyond this week and my 6 year old finished Little Hands last month. I'm wondering if it's possible to combine them in the fall. My 6 year old has always been involved some what since he was a wee on...

Handwriting stress, ready for Bigger?
My son who will be turning 8 in a few weeks is finishing Beyond (as 1st grade) this week! He is a very smart, perfectionist kid and he's grown a lot this year. My dilemma is I don't feel like he's ready for the huge jump in handwriting that's expected in Bigger. He still gets easily stressed out wit...

Re: Should I do Beyond over again?
Thanks, Julie. I just read your latest post as we've recently moved to another state, so I've had a million things going around in my mind. :) Yes, you are correct about the handwriting book. It is book 'A' he's been going through. Before reading your post I had him stop the book and start copying t...

Re: Should I do Beyond over again?
Julie,
Yes, we had a wonderful Thanksgiving with friends. I hope you had a blessed day, too.
Isaac is currently working through A Reason for Handwriting book K, so he's writing the verses at the end of each section.
I will begin the math activities from here on out.

Re: Should I do Beyond over again?
Thank you, Julie for responding. So, you don't think that with already being in Unit 18 that it's too late to get the writing skills under his belt by the end of the guide? Should I stop the handwriting K book and just focus on writing the poetry piece from here on out? In regards to Math, DS is qui...

Preparing Hearts - Narrations and Independent Responsibility
We're about 5 units away from finishing Preparing with my DD who is 10. I've received some advice off and on via Facebook, but thought I'd write here, too. Written narrations have been a struggle from the beginning. Especially if it's a topic she doesn't want to write about and that day is probably ...

Should I do Beyond over again?
I have a 7 year old (July), perfectionist son who is currently on Unit 18 of Beyond. I'm wondering if I should do it over again after he finishes mainly because of his handwriting. We went through Little Hearts for kindergarten using the handwriting A book (my DD used Little Hearts for first using t...

Preparing to Build Level 2 Typo?
I'm a little confused on #2 and #8 on page 164 in section A. The student is to pick out the two pronouns in each sentence. One will be a singular pronoun and one will be a plural pronoun. Naturally my daughter picked you and I for #2 and you and her for #8, but that can't be right because both are s...

Is it okay to modify history subject activities?
We are on day 5 of Unit 3 and my daughter is having some frustrations with copying the map on pg. 26 of the history book. My husband is home this week and was pretty surprised at all that she was "required" to do. He thinks it is a lot to expect out of her (she turned 8 last week). I don't want to s...
