Re: Question about using RTR.
It's the formulating his thoughts and putting them on paper. We are using CTC and we do the I boxes together. We alternate reading paragraph to paragraph. He's a good reader but tends to read fast and misses things which is why I feel more comfortable doing it together.

Question about using RTR.
Hi. We have been using HOD since LHFHG. My son is 12 and is finishing up CTC. He really struggles with writing and I am concerned because it seems like the writing really increases in RtR and that it might be hard for him to keep up. Is there anybody using or that has used RtR in the past with a str...

Question about vocabulary in Bigger.
Hi. I'm wondering if people are having their children memorize the vocabulary words and their meaning or just doing them the one day and that's all. We do them on the designated day and talk about them if/when they come up during the rest of the unit, but are not actually memorizing the definitions....

Question about One Small Square: Seashore
Hi. For those of you doing Bigger, I was wondering if you actually go to the seashore and make a "square". We haven't been to the beach and was wondering if most people actually do the "square" or just read about it like we are. Somedays I feel like we are missing something by just reading about it....

Re: Am I doing dictation correctly?
Thank you for responding. So just to clarify, I don't necessarily have to read the entire sentence at one time. I can read a few words, let him repeat it and then write them and then read the next few words? He's doing fine with the spelling but the challenge is remembering the entire sentence at on...

Am I doing dictation correctly?
Hi. We recently started Bigger and I am wondering if I am doing dictation correctly. My son studies the passage and then I read the sentence and have him repeat it before he writes it. If he doesn't say it correctly I repeat it. Once he starts writing, if he doesn't remember the next word and I tell...

Using multiple guides
Hi. This year I am using Beyond with my DS8. Next year my daughter will officially be starting kindergarten. If we decide to continue with HOD, my son will be in Bigger next year and I am planning on using LHFHG for DD with the emerging readers from Beyond. Using two guides seems like ALOT of work f...

thinking about LHTH for my 4 year old
Hi. I will be using Beyond this year for my 7 year old DS and I am thinking about using LHTH for my 4 year old DD. I'm wondering if it will be to easy for her. She knows all of her letters and sounds and is starting to read. Last year she kept asking to do "her work" so we started Reading Made Easy....
