Thanks, Carrie

I really appreciate your insight. As far as the reading with my 4th grader. I think she would be much relieved to not do all the extension readings! I just got Guns for General Washington from the library, and after looking at it, I am quite sure it would be too difficult for her to enjoy on her own...

I welcome more input as I try to decide

Well...I shall have to wait and see. I usually like to purchase curriculum early, like in March or April, so I don't waffle and change my mind later  We have been enjoying Bigger, but I haven't slowed the pace because I wanted to, but because it really was a bit much to keep up with the pace a...

I am such a Betty, and my husband is a total Olive! I wonder if I should have been left-handed, too. When I was 2 I got my left thumb smashed in a door, and therefore was forced to use my right hand at a critical age-I notice that except for writing, I do a lot of things left-handed (and my writing ...

Hmm-after examining some of the notes on the site, I think it may almost be too much for my 2 daughters (and me!) next year-I may have to wait til they are in 5th and 6th grade (it would also be economical since I would then only need one extension package :) )-right now, we are using Bigger Hearts ...

Preparing Hearts For His Glory

Hi-I'm excited, Carrie, that you have put this up on the website. I wanted to know, will the guide have a daily schedule for the math lessons in the textbooks and workbooks like Bigger has for level 3, and no activities like Bigger has for level 2? Also, would one need to add a writing program, like...

Hi-for a sense of accomplishment, you might try Bob Books. They are tiny-hand sized readers with a few pages each, that have funny stick-type cartoon drawings and very simple, phonetic text with a few sight words. They were really great for one of my daughters, who your son reminds me of. Lourdes ht...

Hi! I just wanted to add that for my 3rd and 4th grader, I found that the math in Bigger Hearts was actually just right, as well as the grammar. My daughters were coming from a different math curriculum, so I used Singapore Math's placement tests, and the 3rd grader placed in level 2, and the 4th gr...

Re: DITHOR Workbooks

Hi-I sent you a pm, but just wanted to say, absolutely you need the DITHOR workbook and teacher book to use the program, they comprise the program, you can't have one without the other. If you look at Carrie's sample pages for each on the website, you'll see that the teacher's book refers to workboo...

Hi there! No thoughts on the reading, but I am a "convert" to Singapore since starting Bigger Hearts this year. Carrie's math activities really make it work for us, my daughter only needs the workbooks, and the lessons are short and sweet, saving us tons of time over the math we used to use. Just a ...

Hi! Have you seen the sample pages? http://www.heartofdakota.com/pdf/little-hands-first-week.pdf This should give you a good idea what each day is like. There is plenty to do, although it's not workbooks, and it's my impression your daughter will enjoy AND understand :) I'm not usinig it myself, but...

Welcome! I'm using DITHOR for the first time with my 4th grader. I like it, but shee doesn't, because reading is NOT her favorite activity-she prefers math. However, it is improving her retention and comprehension, so we'll keep it :)

The easy yet interesting art projects and science for Bigger Hearts-even my 8th grader joins in on art for fun :D
My 3rd and 4th graders appreciate the short math lessons, a big contrast to the math curriculum they were using before.
