Re: State study
MtMM has the individual state study. Sorry, I can't post links right now, but if you will go to the MtMM packages page, it is listed just above the science package. I think you order it directly from the company that publishes it and choose your own state. It is scheduled in the guide on an alternat...

Re: To finish phonics or not????
Having skipped the last part of phonics (with another program) when my oldest took off, I highly recommend finishing it. Now...what you may want to do, if you feel dd is can handle it, is start the emerging readers alongside The Reading Lesson. You certainly don't have to wait on reading books, but ...

Re: Things aren't working; need feedback, please.
It sounds as though the biggest issues are related to the Bigger guide. Four hours is a bit long for that guide, especially considering that isn't including storytime or Dithor. I think I'd probably take a look at that piece of the puzzle first, and then go from there. I know you said you looked at ...

Re: Teaching Literature (BJU) in Geography
Sorry I am just now getting back to this. I have been reading the responses as they come in, but I'm just now getting a chance to post a reply. Thank you all so very much. I see you have done lots of HOD guides so you know that Carrie is really good about making sure if we are to cover anything in t...

Teaching Literature (BJU) in Geography
We are loving the new Geography guide. We have just completed week 6, and dd has been "in her groove" for at least 3 of those. My only trouble is the literature (the BJU part, not the novels). I must admit, that when we came to the first novel, I was so very thankful for the reprieve from the BJU te...

Re: Question about dictation
If he gets the dictation correct (including spelling, capitals, all punctuation), then he can move on to the next one :D . Congratulations on the progress. Dictation has been great for my dyslexic ds also, as well as for my non-dyslexic, but previously awful spelling dd  . I'm not sure about t...

typing of the oral narrations
When typing dc's oral narrations, are we to include the "ummms" and "like, ya know" and "ohhhh, what was his name....oh, yeah, ...." and "hang on, I gotta go back a bit I left this out....." You get the idea  ALL the "extras" (that they already know they need to work on), or do we clean it up...

Re: ? About Beefing Up Science
Actually, the geo guide will have integrated physics and chemistry. This is a separate credit than Chemistry. (The 3rd highschool guide will have Chemistry). But that's not really going to answer your question as to what you would do with it when you hit the geography guide---I don't know if the IPC...

Hi! You will love Little Hearts! It's such a great year. I am going to be starting it with my last little guy this year, and am a little sad that we will be closing the door on that guide  . Anyway....on to your questions... #1) I'm trying ot prepare for the new school year as best I can, but I...

Independent Reading in Preparing
I have done Preparing twice with multiple kiddos, so you would think I wouldn't have to ask this question  . (And I DO think I know the answer......but.....). If a child just completed the emerging readers, and is just about to begin Dithor (with level 2 books), will he be okay with the indepe...

Re: Letter reversals in child who previously did not?
My first thought is, "Is she doing it on purpose - either to get attention or to possibly get out of something?" I don't believe this is the case, as she actually appears quite embarrassed that she's done it--though I've tried not making a huge deal of it. After that, I'm thinking - is she in art c...
