Re: All I can say is WOW!

We recently had our RtR Box Day too, and were equally pleased :D . I continue to be amazed at the beauty in every single HOD package we have used (both in "eye appeal" and content). Simply a blessing!

Re: Has your children's faith growen and strengthened?

This is a great question, and I can't wait to see the responses of others. As for us.... I have definitely seen growth in all of my children. I think God uses a variety of catalysts (both internal and external) to "grow us". However, much of the growth I have seen in my kids, I think is directly rel...

Re: Is there a book version of the Diana Waring CDs?

I remember when DD first plugged in that first cd. She came out of her room after the first listening and said, "ummmm, Mom???? Have you listened to this lady?", in tone that indicated I may not approve. So I thought to myself, "hmmmm, what could be on there that she thinks I would find offensive". ...

Re: Bigger Hearts good for 4th grader?

My dd (now 10) was a 9 yo fourth grader when we started Bigger. And as a matter of fact, we won't finish it up till fall of this year (as a 10 yo 5th grader). I thought it was plenty "meaty". She is grouped with her brother that is 11 months younger. DD did "4th grade" math, reading, and English whi...

Re: Box Day - PLUS!!

Happy Day!!

Congratulations on your sweet little man!

And your older ones look just preciously (is that a word???) excited with their school books. So fun!

I do the same thing with pulling out the "old" books to be a "new" box day too. I love your pictures! Your kids are adorable :D

Re: Exciting Day Coming Up...

Very exciting day, indeed---on both accounts! :D

We waited to be "surprised" on the birth of our first, but for the other 5, there was just no waiting...That sonogram day couldn't get here fast enough! So fun!....And Box Day to boot! Can it get any better? :D

Re: CTC Research? What did you use?

The only thing in addition to the Bible and Wiki that we used was a Bible Dictionary. But the Bible Dictionary was not necessary. She was able to answer all questions with just the school books, Bible, and Wiki. She just found a few topics throughout the year that she wanted to dig deeper into, and ...

Re: Computer Skills

I didn't post the original question, but I think the shutterfly book is a great idea. I think DD12 is going to do that this year. She has been helping me put together our family scrapbook (we use Creative Memories digital) for the last year or so. It think I'm going to "let her go" with her own scho...

Re: The Cat of Bubastes

I do not know the answer to your question. I just wanted to say that we all listened to The Cat of Bubastes going to and from our vacation this past year and ALL of us loved it! Even my dh (who doesn't do any school time with us), was hanging on every word. I did not realize it was an abridge...

Re: Scheduling help for this newbie (Bigger & LHFHG)

Here are our time ranges for Bigger by box. I have sporadically timed each box, so these are the shortest times and longest times. On average , most boxes will be right in the middle of the two extreme times. Math = 15-40. This includes teaching time and independent work together. My Bigger kids are...

Re: Questions about placement of 10 yr dd new to HOD

We were in the same place you are a couple of years ago. My oldest was 10, and could have fit into CtC. I was a little worried (being new to HOD/Charlotte Mason) that we needed a transition year. We ended up going with Preparing--and I am very thankful we did! She had a really good year solidifying ...

Re: Not sure where to place dd 13

I agree with 8arrows. Now, if she is "stretching" to fit into RtR, and there are some things that you aren't sure about, then CtC may be best. But if she solidly places in RtR, then that is the route to go. She will get the ancient history in a few years so I wouldn't worry about the cycle. You will...

Re: My daughter cracks me up: Awaiting Box day

Our box arrived yesterday, and it was all we knew it would be :D . We had the best time going through it. She begged to read one. I said no..... We thumbed through the books. She begged to read another one. I said no...... We sorted them into piles according to the boxes they would be used for. She ...
