Re: CTC Notebook - have generous writing spaces?
Thanks, Lynn! I enjoyed visiting your blog and did take a look at the solution you mentioned for your son in the notebook. Good idea! Another solution came to mind and that is to have my son type up his writing assignment for the box and then tape a copy of it in the box. This would be only for thos...

CTC Notebook - have generous writing spaces?
Hi. I was wondering if any of you who have used the CTC Notebook could tell me if you found that the space allowed for writing sentences was adequate. I have 9 & 12 yro boys who would use it. I guess their writing size is average. They can write smaller if need be, but just wondering. We've used cur...

Re: Nature Walks/Bird & Tree Identification
I have found that the more field guides we have, the better (one for birds, ones for wildflowers, one for insects, the night sky, etc.) You are learning right along with your kids! When you look up the name of a wildflower or a bird in your guide, this inspires your child! Modeling an interest in na...

Re: PHFHG Science - ideas for 7th grade boy??
Patty,
Thanks for the helpful reply. I'll look into those recommendations. I'm still hoping to hear from someone who has some experience with Apologia's General Science. Just wondering why it seems to be so popular for 7th grade.

PHFHG Science - ideas for 7th grade boy??
Hi. I did the placement chart for my 4 boys and this post pertains to PHFHG, which the lovely ladies on this forum helped me to decide upon for my two oldest - 9 & 12 yr olds (going with the program the 9 yr old placed into and will be beefing it up for my 12 yro.) My question has to do with the sci...

Re: Question about HOD & type of crafts
Tamara, You didn't sound harsh at all. In fact, your response prompted me to take a closer look at PHFHG, and it looks awesome! Because it only mentioned extensions for 5th-6th grades, I assumed it wouldn't work for my oldest and skipped over it. But then upon closer inspection of the program and th...

Re: Question about placement for my 4 boys
Thanks for your reply. May I ask what specifically about CTC would make my 9 yro "drown?" I thought that CTC is supposed to be for 9-11 year-olds. Couldn't I just add in age-appropriate L. Arts and Math? Or does CTC combine L.Arts with the History? Sorry, I'm just a bit confused.

Question about HOD & type of crafts
Hi. I'm very happy to have found this forum. I just started researching HOD's website and reviews yesterday. I had heard of Heart of Dakota during my first year of homeschooling 6 years ago, but didn't know they made things for older elementary until just a day ago! I've been seriously considering S...
