Thoughts on reading level and dithor...
So, I'm wondering how many of you are addressing issues like this, as I'm sure I am not the only one. My dd is in Kinder, and although I started the year with the ERs at her instructional level, she quickly outgrew them and we haven't even finished them. She is now reading and completely comprehendi...

Re: Bible in LHFHG & Beyond
Oh, I hadn't realized that the History section where you read the Bible was actually the History. So for Bible then am I correct to understand that it is mainly a Bible Verse and the devotional for LHFHG? What about Beyond? Bigger?

Bible in LHFHG & Beyond
I'm about half way thru LHFHG and we just finished up the Bible.... So do we just not study the Bible anymore for the rest of the year? Am I missing something?
What about in Beyond- does it have an actual Bible study at all? We are already done with the ERs, so I'm not counting those.

Every person is different in what they can manage. That being said, I think your schedule seems fine.

Re: What do I do first? LHFHG or MFW K?
Personally I wouldn't want to re-do a program. I would do LHTH at 3. I think it would not be appropriate for a 4yo who knows letters/sounds. At 5 I would do LHFHG. I would fill in that gap year with something else. That's my plan as well with my next set of little ones.

Re: Dawdling Child Drags out Lessons
Thank you for this post. You described my dd to a T. Guess I have been giving too many choices as well... Ouch.

bible in beyond?
I'm looking at what needs to be purchased in Beyond and there is not a Bible listed. I know there are two options for LHFHG and there are two bibles in the emerging readers, but if the emerging readers are done during LHFHG, what is used for Bible in Beyond?

Re: Buy Books or Use Library??
Or you can mix n match! I selected which books from each set that I liked (knowing I have boys & girls coming up) and bought them accordingly. I figure I can always add to it with other kids later if it isn't the best selection for that child specifically.

wwyd - placement ?
My 5 year old will be 6 in december, and I am wondering where to place her. I understand based on her age that LHFHG would fit well. I actually started her on it last year at this time and then freaked out that the read alouds might be too hard for her so I did a different program with her this year...

Re: Quick ER question
She is still working on a phonics program, and probably will for another year. However, I know 100EZ lessons, etc. does not go as in depth as the phonics program we are using so I am trying to figure out at what stage I should do both the ERs and the phonics in tandem. I figure she will be ready to ...

Quick ER question
The bible (yellow one- can't think of exact name)- it has 5 words in it that are too difficult for dd to sound out (the 5 that they put in the little box). Should dd be able to read these prior to starting the ER's or not? If she can't read them, does that mean she is not ready for the ER's? Thanks!

dithor books
Just wondering if most people use the suggested list of Dithor books or select others in that genre to read through?

? for people using OPGTR - when to start ER's
If anyone is using OPGTR for phonics, I'm wondering when you chose to start the emerging readers. I know you are supposed to finish phonics instruction (and I will) but it seems that dd would be able to read some early readers well before OPGTR would be completed, right? Did you wait until it was co...

Beyond w/ 2nd grader
If I am using Beyond w/ a 2nd grader, do I purchase the English 2 that is sold in the Bigger set and add that in?
