Re: History
Thank you Kathleen & Lisa. . . perfect!! I'm so looking forward to making a time line and allowing history to come alive. . . . This is so very different from what I was doing as a 1st grader and am thrilled at the possibilites of what she can learn and the benefits of incorporating Bible study into...

Re: Singapore math
Thank you to everyone who has responded! So helpful! We are almost done with Horizons Kindergarten math books. It looks like from the posts that starting with 1A & 1B is a good idea. Thanks again to everyone. . .
Very excited about starting our 1st grade year with HOD !

I'm confused because the Singapore website says "if your child is entering 1st grade, start with 1A & 1B; however, HOD catalog gives you a choice whether to go with 1A & 1B or 2A & 2B. . . . when going with Beyond LH...

We will be using Beyond LHFHG for the first time this summer, as we start 1st grade with our daughter. Before purchasing the curriculum, I had talked with friends who are using different history programs with their kids and using the book of centuries to guide their children through world history, a...

Re: choosing between emerging reader and draw into heart of read
Wow! I'm overwhelmed with the amount of feedback and advice to my question! What wonderful support. I think these were all excellent points made and I think you all are right about just helping her develop comprehension and fluency with the ER and then see what happens! I can always supplement. . . ...

choosing between emerging reader and draw into heart of read
OK. .. We have pretty much decided to go with HOD for my 1st grade daughter. My problem is now figuring out whether to place her as an emerging reader or jump into the Drawn into the Heart of Reading workbook. She is an advanced reader and has started reading chapter books over the past 2 - 3 months...
