Re: 5 & 6.5yr in Beyond????

thanks for the information! We do already add books from the back and others regarding the time period from LHFHG for both my children. It's good to know the purpose to the storytime is to learn to narrate in this level.... I'll think on that and where my younger really is to that regard. Maybe Im j...

5 & 6.5yr in Beyond????

How does HOD intend for children to be combined? Should my focus be in combining be the skills side of the guides or the reading comprehension and L side of the guides??? I currently have my ds 5 and dd 6.5 in Little Hearts, with my youngest using both sides of the guide and for my older using beyon...

Re: What level for K & 1/2nd?

Im torn with the same question. But for now Im using LHFHG together for the history, bible, science, activities and just doing the basic skills for my oldest at her own pace seperately. I use LHFHG both sides for my younger dd5. At this point I think I really want to keep them together and Im overwh...

Re: Having trouble scheduling ONE program

I've only finished 3 units of LHFHG so my advice is limited, but my younger children are similar in age to yours. First I took the time to decide what subjects I felt needed to be done independently and what we could combine. I really resisted taking individual time with my littles ( I felt like tha...

Re: handwriting/ spelling in BLHFHG

yes this helps,
I was just used to going from book a to b to c.. ect for handwriting practice each year with my oldest daughter. I do like that the handwriting is built into copywork at the same time vs seperate subjects like my oldest did.

handwriting/ spelling in BLHFHG

How do I know when a child has had enough handwriting practice in a handwriting books like a reason for handwriting.. I know the sceduled practice ends when a child starts beyond but are the copywork passages now in beyond to be done as "handwriting," working on how nice their print looks?? And if s...

Re: singapore math drill question

I just realized that it should still be simple at this age!! And flash cards will probably work just fine as needed.

singapore math drill question

We have just started HOD this year! So many questions! In the past I used singapore math with my oldest through 3a but then realized she just never had enough practice with memorizing the basic facts. I've read about singapore and still like the value behind it but wonder how or if HOD believes ther...

Re: Starting highschool credits in 8th grade?

i think this is a great idea, its what i plan to do with my soon to be 8th grader. I didnt know a one year time period in history counts towards the world history requirement for highschool. All the highschool textbook curriculums address the one year world history to cover all the time periods. Thi...

Re: little hands vs little heart for 5 year old?

thanks, those links were helpful! from what i read this is what i gathered.....I could probably go with either but with little hands I would probably only need it until he has finished learning his letter sounds so he can start into the reading program. i would also add to it the practice with writi...

Re: Remedial spelling for 13yo

I couldn't decide between phonetic zoo or all about spelling for my 11 year old and again nothing was working. and even to do a dictation or writing was painful because 80% was mispelled. and then when her younger sister who was 6 was spelling at nearly the same level ( with no spelling practice) i ...

little hands vs little heart for 5 year old?

I can not decide wich program will work to start in a few weeks! I originally thought little hands, but now wonder if it is too easy???? my ds can count to 25 and can identify letters 1-10. He can also write these numbers ( but still needs practice). and he knows the basic concept of addition and th...

thank you everyone for the advice, it sounds like I need to create a morning schedule to make it work. Thanks so much for the detailed schedule- I also have a younger one in the house so this helps to see how others make it work

Re: LHFHG or beyond for my 2 children

Beyond does fit my 6 year old dd the best. Does beyond include short dictations or spelling or both? My older daughter (11-12) will also be doing preparing. It seams like alot to being doing 3 guides at once, I'm not sure I could do that! What about doing LHFHG for my two younger children for bible ...
