Still praying for next years cirriculum
I'm still around reading posts and praying about next year's cirriculum. I've been chatting with my husband about it also as we decide what to do. We can see the need to split our oldest into her own guide as she heads into 8th grade, possibly keep the three middle boys together, or just the two and...

Re: High school hours???
I was hoping for a max of five hours also! ;) When I was in highschool I rarely had homework and I took independent studies classes bc I could complete the credit in way less time on my own then by taking a class. I went to college post secondary and had even less homework with classes from 8:00 too...

Re: High school hours???
Our goals for our children is to put, God first and then family. I hope my daughters are stay at home moms and my sons are doing good honest labor as adults-putting God and family ahead of money and prestige. I partly wish we were Amish so the kids could quit school and apprentice after 8th grade! ;...

High school hours???
Does highschool really take 7 hours a day (assuming everything goes smoothly for them)?? When does the student have time for chores and can they still be helps with the littlest ones? The idea of my oldest working on school all day is not great, she has chores and is a helper around the house. ;) Ho...

Re: How could we best fit 5 into guides?
Hi! Toby firmly fits into Beyond, and Levi is can do everything in the Beyond except he still struggles with coping sentences. He is currently working on that one. ;) James and Joshua have not done much dictation at all. But they both do written narration a, Joshua does an excellent job with them, J...

Re: Figured out Abby's placement, looking at the boys...
That does make good sense as Joshua and James are way closer in level/ability them anyone else and Toby and Levi have a ways to go before either is ready for written narrations. Abby is way ahead of them all. I've done MFW and combined them all but I always need to find lots of extra work to keep Ab...

Re: Figured out Abby's placement, looking at the boys...
Then again I could put Abby and Joshua together...it would be a challenge with Joshua's writing skills but he will be 6th grade and should be able to handle it... Maybe... Abby can do the RtR extensions for 8th... Toby did LHFHG two years ago at age 4 with James. We never finished the whole thing as...

Figured out Abby's placement, looking at the boys...
Looking at the chart in the catalog that arrived yesterday (yea! :)) I can see putting Abby into either Revival to Recolution or Mission to Modern Marvels, but looking at where we are in the timeline, I'd lean towards putting her into Revival to Revolution. (She just turned 13 and will be in 8th). F...

Re: How could we best fit 5 into guides?
I do agree, I would like to have them broke up into 3 guides. Abby deff can run a guide on her own. She is very smart and independent. Joshua and James are close to the same level in so many ways (just not math lol) I can see them together doing semi independent work. Toby and Levi are 16 months apa...

How could we best fit 5 into guides?
Hi, I haven't been here in awhile, I had used LHFHG a few years ago for two of my children. I really like the Conservative Christian views and teaching in these guides. I was wondering if I go with HOD for next year, how would I seperate the children? We have been studying Bible Science and Social a...

Summer fun with LHFHG
I started LHFHG last year but we didn't finish it. I pulled it out again this summer and we are going through it every few days during our summer break! All of the children come together and do the activities and listen to the readings, sure it's not for the older ones, but they enjoy listening in a...

Re: Looking ahead
Sure! James will be 7 in Aug. He fits into Beyond, he reads out of the 2nd grade Abeka books, is very smart, but he has muscular dystrophy so his hands are weak and although he can write, his writing needs some work and although he can spell better then his older brother, he has trouble writing out ...

Looking ahead
I always think people shouldn't overthink thier homeschool, yet I'm doing just that! haha! Looking at this year, and onto the future, I would like to continue to combine as many as possible. So if I put Abby and Joshua into Preparing for next year (extentions for Abby-6th, no extentions for Joshua, ...
