Re: Placement help for DD
thank you for your opinions. I will practice narrations- she reads extensively over the summer so we can do that. I think I will have her read a few Rev to Rev books and do some discussions on them to prepare also.

Placement help for DD
DD12 (will be 13 in August) did Preparing in 4th grade and did great with it- perfect placement. We then switched and did a mish mash of things for 5-7th and now for 8th through high school we are coming back to HOD (never should have left!!) I would like to place DD in MTMM so that she can just fol...

Help with length of lessons for MTMM and World Geo
Hi all- I'm new and researching HOD for high school and possibly 8th grade. I tried searching but cannot find what I am looking for and was wondering if someone could link me to the right info :D I was looking for the average length of the lessons in MTMM and World Geography so I can see what our da...

Re: As we move into high school, the design of the guides...
I think that the daily format could be kept but have some assignments that are given on Day 1 and needed completed by Day 4 (or 5 if you are going to a 5 day week). You could start off in the 1st year guide by having an assignment given and then have a daily box "reminder" to work on the assignment ...

Re: PHFHG vocab question
It works, I think its operator error. For example, I typed in preparing vocab and I get posts that mention those 2 words, but not those two words "together" am I not using the search right? Like I would like to search for "preparing vocab" and not two separate words...preparing and vocab.

PHFHG vocab question
Forgive me if this has been answered, for the life of me I cannot get the search function to work for me.
How often do you review your vocab words? I browsed the manual and didn't see anything telling us to review. Do you have your kiddo memorize all of them?
thanks!

Re: Would this work? (a way to slow down LHFHG)
I had thought of doing it 4 days, but every other sounds great too. Thanks for the idea. I really wanted more time to read other books and I love the looks of FIAR. hmmmmmm

Re: Exactly how does DITHOR work?
[quote="my3sonsI have varied this over the years, largely depending on the dc's age and reading ability. When they were first beginning DITHOR, I had them read their pages out loud to me, and then we did the discussion questions if there were any, and last I went through the Student Book directions ...

Re: Bible for Preparing
NIV is my favorite simpler version. If you prefer something closer to KJV, you could try the NKJV. incidentally, the Psalms CD for Preparing uses mostly KJV :) I was thinking of KJV verses for memorization and a "simpler" version for reading and discussing. Good to know about the Psalms CD, I have ...

Exactly how does DITHOR work?
I am looking through my DITHOR TM and I was wondering how it plays out/ how you schedule it. Do you have the child read the assigned reading as a "block" of time during your school day right before you discuss it or do the activites, or do you have them read it the night before and then you discuss ...

I am looking for Bible suggestions for my 9YO to use in Preparing this fall. I have always used KJV and my dd has one I passed on to her, but I think I want something simpler for her to understand. Suggestions? I truly have never lookad at another Bible version and so I am clueless

Re: Made up my mind
I will be a newbie this Fall and I am doing 3 guides (sort of). I am doing Preparing, LHFHG half speed and LHTH. My kids are 9, 5, and 3. My 9YO wants to run DS3 through LHTH so I am going to let her do that in the afternoons while I just supervise and I will take him through it again next year myse...
