Re: Does Resurrection to Reformation go along w/ MFW RtR?

It sounds like you may have this figured out, but I just wanted to chime in with a few thoughts. There is SO MUCH out there that looks fun and good. But it isn't curriculum that teaches your kids. They need YOU. If you are stretched thin by using too many resources, planning, and directing everyone,...

Re: Will you review this narration for placement purposes?

Thanks Julie!

I found a sample for chapter 30 of Story of the Ancient World so I 'll take a look at that today.

Will you review this narration for placement purposes?

I was pretty sure about using CTC for my daughter but I realized I'm not really sure about written narrations. She's always been a "natural" oral narrator, but I've never given her any instruction on written narration. I don't want to assume and end up in the wrong guide. DD just turned 10 and in 4t...

Re: Placement Advice

Thank you! I think I am pretty set on CTC with oldest. My 1st/2nd grader places in Bigger on paper but my gut tells me to go with Beyond. I think the vocab and timeline would be a struggle for her instead of a joy. So now I just need to decide if I should have her third grade brother join her in Bey...

Re: Starting Little Hearts for His Glory

I've done LHFHG a few times and all of my kids loved it. If it were me, I would throw all of my effort into LHFHG and consider that my main school day. It is so nice to have the feeling of "being done" for the day, if that makes sense. With that being said, there is no harm in more art or fun little...

Placement Advice

Hi ladies. I used HOD in the past but we had to take a few years off due to difficult life circumstances. The kids are all using Abeka dvds right now and it has actually been a great year of solidifying the things we've worked on in k-3. I'm hoping to get back to HOD next year, Lord willing, which i...

Re: Beyond - Phillipians 4:8 memorization-KJV

Kelly at Generation Cedar has a cd (used in Preparing) with that passage (KJV) set to music. I'm not sure that helps you right now, though. :D

Re: Considering HOD

I used to follow TWTM until I couldn't ignore my issues with it any longer :D . I will say that my daughter is getting much more science then she did following TWTM because it actually GETS DONE. Carrie has done all of the work and made the readings/projects/notebooking so easy that I have no reason...

Fun first day of school with DITHOR

Today was our first day back and we did our genre kickoff for DITHOR. I gave dd 5 minutes to gather 5 things in a bag that gave us a glimpse into who she is. I took a picture of her with her things and videotaped her telling me about them and about herself. I thought this was such a fun project for ...

Re: I feel like a homeschool snob

Oops, I see Mater was postng at the same time as I was. I had to get up in the middle of posting to fish my 1 yr old out of the garbage! I didn't mean to pile it on after it had already been addressed. :)

Re: I feel like a homeschool snob

I want to encourage you to be kind, tenderhearted, gentle, and good (Ephesians 4:32, Galatians 5:22-23). A prideful or critical spirit will do more to hurt a homeschooler's image (and the cause of Christ) than poor grammar.

With love... :D

Re: DD very young for her grade level, not interested in 'school

Is schooling at that age mandatory in Ontario? Do you have mandatory testing or portfolio review? If so, I would be more inclined to do LHFHG at least half speed. Otherwise, your plan sounds good! I would caution against planning her HOD levels based on your younger ds. You don't know where he is go...
