Re: CTC apologia is taking my 11 year old too long to read
Thank you! I see in the follow up that your daughter started to do better with the history. Did she ever do better with the science reading? If so, what do you think worked best out of the advice given? I don't see the audio for the science books anywhere. Does someone know where I could go to look ...

CTC apologia is taking my 11 year old too long to read
We're doing CTC with an 11 year old boy and a 9 year old girl. It's going very well and we are learning so much. We are however having one problem. The science readings are taking our 11 year old son upwards of an hour to read. That's just the reading and not even including the notebooking or other ...

Re: Hit a wall with combining?
It looks like you've gotten some really great responses here. We never did end up uncombining and it is still going very well. We're having some little issues but they are to do more with the older child, his age, and focus. The 9 year old is doing great with CTC and finishes before her 11 year old ...

Haha
We did the same thing here. I offered for them to chooes and after a little bit of listening to the CD they both decided they wanted me to read it. They said his voice was boring.

O.K. Thanks. I may just check it out from the library and see if we can use it as a 5 day option.LynnH wrote:Also just know it is a very short book. Not sure how well it would work for DITHOR.

Re: Biography on a queen
This one does look good! I read her a page from amazon and she said it sounded interesting. I wonder since we won't be reading it again for almost 3 years, if we could still use it now and then again in RtR.

Biography on a queen
I'm picking our DITHOR books for the coming year and my daughter has requested to read about a princess/queen for her biography book. There isn't any on the list of DITHOR suggestions that fit that bill in her level. Anyone have any ideas on what I could search for to find one? I've been on amazon f...

Re: Instructions for doing s boxes and combining kids?
Thanks for the replies. I guess I was feeling guilty about having them do some things together. I kept thinking that they are needing to be more independent so I need to separate them. It's great to hear how others have done it.

Re: Moving up in DITHOR
You will want books for her to read that are pretty easy for her to read, she shouldn't struggle with understanding them. This allows her to do the higher level analysis in DITHR. Really? I didn't know this. Where does the challenge for more advanced reading come in then? Just curious as I am about...

Instructions for doing s boxes and combining kids?
I have two that will be in Preparing come September. I'm trying to get our schedule figure out and going through the guide week by week to see how it will all play out. Do I have my kids work together on the s boxes? Do I explain it to them and then have them team up, or do they need to be doing it ...

It's been a couple of years so I don't remember how we used the timeline in Bigger. In case this might be helpful to those of you who don't have the timeline, here is a link to a website that has a timeline of the Wright Brother's lives: http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/wrighthtml/wrighttime.html :D Tha...

Re: DITHR 2/3 and Bigger Hearts: Character traits
Just wanted to let you know I sent you a message (OP) on some things we have done with our daughter who had some of the same issues. I wasn't sure if it was o.k. to post it here since it includes some things we've added (made by a friend for HOD).

Re: My 8YO's handwriting
My guess is that her handwriting will improve leaps and bounds after she gets the hang of cursive more. Her cursive is actually very neat!
