We're doing CTC with an 11 year old boy and a 9 year old girl. It's going very well and we are learning so much. We are however having one problem. It looks like you've gotten some really great responses here. We never did end up uncombining and it is still going very well. We did the same thing here. I offered for them to chooes and after a little bit of listening to the CD they both decided they wanted me to read it. They said his voice was boring.

Thanks for the replies. I guess I was feeling guilty about having them do some things together. I kept thinking that they are needing to be more independent so I need to separate them. It's great to hear how others have done it.

You will want books for her to read that are pretty easy for her to read, she shouldn't struggle with understanding them. This allows her to do the higher level analysis in DITHR. Really? I didn't know this. Where does the challenge for more advanced reading come in then? Just curious as I am about...

My guess is that her handwriting will improve leaps and bounds after she gets the hang of cursive more. Her cursive is actually very neat!
